Your case should have a 2 pin kk female connector labeled something like "power sw"--look in the mobo manual to identify the two pins this connects to--look in the case manual for suggested connector orientation. Usually the case would also have Power LED, Reset SW and HDD Led 2-pin connectors.

Find out the MoBo's (MotherBoard) CPU socket number. then find out what socket the chip is. If the same then bingo your in action.

In many newer cases there is no Reset Button and no such connection.
Therefore you can only use Power ON and OFF, the Reset pins on the
motherboard must remain free. The machine goes OFF by pushing the
Power Button for more than 4 seconds.

i need help with overclocking the 4coredual-sata2
i have e6600 (2.4ghz), and 2x1gb pc2-6400 (400mhz)

before, my vid card was hd4670, i could oc the cpu to 2.6 ghz stable just from changing the fsb
i upgraded vid card to hd5670, i cant oc the cpu at all (i'm thinking i need to adjust the ram as well)
and oc the gpu freezes the system

with the 4670 i could oc both vid and cpu pretty decently, now, i cant do anything

bios is 2.17a i think (i updated to 2.20a suspecting that was the problem then back to 2.17a when i switched vid cards, was at 2.12a from 4670)

Hi all thanks for this amazing thread you people have come up with. I'm running a 775dual-vsta with a celeron 330j which I plan to volt-pin mod to 1.55vcore and overclock to 4+ghz and/or eventually buy a wolfdale with the highest multiplier (maybe e5400 or e3400?). I read in some other posts that wolfdales run fine on this mboard.

My question, does the ati radeon 5850 (or 5870 for that matter) run on this mboard? I really want that card and be able to play starcraft 2, resident evil 5 and id software's rage. I also don't get why people are so against the pcie 4X slot. I've read in so many other forums and threads that it's such a bottle neck for the ati radeon 48xx cards and to get a new mboard.

According to this article http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_5870_PCI-Express_Scaling/25.html it really isn't a bottle neck for a 5870 which is way faster. It only really bottle necks at 1X speed despite what that articles conclusion says. So in my opinion people are just talking out there buttox and are full of it. I'd be more than happy to be within 5% from pcie 16X mboards.

My only concern would be the PCIE pipeline request and the other bios option that would in fact alter performance and/or compatibility. It would be great to know if these cards are capable on this mboard.

In that TechPowerUp article you linked to, the author tested the HD 5870's PCI-E scaling on a PCI-E 2.0 board, which has 500 MB/s per lane (x4 on a 2.0 board would have a theoretical bandwidth of 2000 MB/s). The 4Core & 775Dual boards are PCI-E 1.0 boards, so a x4 slot on these boards would be 1000 MB/s (250 MB/s per lane). Extrapolating the scaling results from the TechPowerUp article, one could estimate that a HD 5870 running in a PCI-E 1.0 x4 slot would fall between a PCI-E 2.0 x1 and PCI-E 2.0 x4 slot, which would roughly be ~15% performance loss (compared to running it in a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot).

A ~15% loss of performance isn't terrible, but with that kind of loss, it may be better to get a HD 5850 instead (if it even works with the 4Core / 775Dual boards, that is).

guys ... i need help ...
im using Asrock 775DualVsta with 6600GT AGP on PSU Acbell 420w, and i already tried using my friend's HD4670, with bios from Pctreiber 3.19 (support for HD4890) and it works very good.
then i buy a Digital Alliance HD4850 GREEN (HD4850 without power plug at all).
but with this video card, my PC can not boot at all .... just got all 3 keyboard led on for a second, then numlock led on, blank screen and no go ....
then i try this HD4850 to 2 other computers both with cheap local PSU and both works good...
(local case + psu for 43 US$)
i will try to flash mobo bios to older one that said it support HD4850 (sorry i forgot the version), but i can not find that bios on pctreiber.net anymore, it said "not found".... have anyone experience this ?

and there are other bios that add support for HD4850 and HD4870

http://forums.ocworkbench.com/showthread.php?t=75467

anyone tried this bios already ?

i thinking about my mobo can not supply enough juice for HD4850 Green without power plug (just draw power from PCIEx lane)

any suggestion ?
thanks in advance

I've now upgraded my trusty Asrock to a new i5 750 and 5850 video card system, all the weird quirks I had are now gone. like ctd's in certain games, also not being able to play dvd movies on any operating system including Linux Ubuntu.
Nevertheless the Asrock will live on in the spare computer again in a few weeks.

To answer some questions here, as far as fitting a 5850 or 5870 to the Asrock I am fairly certain that others with even 4890's got no higher benchmarks than a 3850 AGP could manage, due to the limited abilities of both the version 1 4x pcie slot as well as the Via chipset, don't expect too much as this mobo is a bit of a contradiction with AGP/pcie and ddr1/ddr2 and was not designed as a gamer mobo, it definitely helped me get the most out of my video card for another 18 months though.

a 4850 without a power connector again I don't think so, the power regulators on this motherboard are not designed for such a workload, see if You can exchange it for a non green model.

thanks for your information ...
im not exchange video card, if i exchange it to non green i think i should buy new PSU ... im looking for green because i do not want buy PSU (mine is Acbel 420w only)
i'm ordered new mobo for better video performance and will sell this asrock mobo + 6600gt to my friends

cheers

Guys please help. I just bought Dual Core E6500 and it doesn't work with the 775dual-vsta 3.10 BIOS. The PcTreiber site seems to doesn't have those mod BIOSes anymore. Can any of you say where can I find the BIOS which would make my set work (guess 3.17a, 3.19a) or send my such BIOS?
Thanks in advance.

Same problem after flashing 3.19a BIOS. Does anyone know if this MB should work with Dual Core E6500? When I press the power button it starts for 0,5 sec (fans and leds) and then turns off.

Hi folks,

I'm trying to install an MSI Geforce 220 card to my Asrock 775Dual-VSTA get an HTPC going. I'm currently running BIOS 3.10 and Windows 7 Home Premium.

The card's video work wonderfully, but I can't get the HDMI Audio to recognize at all. At this point I'm assuming it is a BIOS issue.

What are the latest versions of the unofficial BIOS and Winflasher, and would somebody be able to provide me with direct links?

Thanks in advance,

RadMan

so the differences between an PDC E6300 and E6500 are practically non existent:

It could not work because of the "Embedded" propriety? and what the hell is this "embedded" stuff?

Hi lokis065.

Did you mean Celereon E3200 or E3300.
If you mean this two processors I think they will work correctly.

What I found out, that you must look at following things for the 775-Dual-VSTA:
The processor have R0-Stepping
The processer have max 1066 MHz Bus Speed (FSB).

I\'ve installed yesterday my new processer. A Pentium Dual Core E6500 (new one) with 2.93MHz frequency, R0-Stepping and an FSP of 1066MHz.
I think more frequency than 2.93MHz will work (for exapmle when you plan to update to an Core2Duo - E7600).

If you are not sure, the processor you would like to install have above requierments check the Intel CPU Spec Site: http://processorfinder.intel.com/

Greetz...kingpin

Ok, so this guy says that e6500 is working for him.
So, Mathes, what about u?

I've had a pretty good read through this thread, but I cant see anyone mentioning that they have got a Nvidia GT240 PCI-e card to work a 4coredual-Sata2

I'm trying to decide between 3 cards.
9800GT
GT240
HD5570

That's my order of preference, but price will in the end dictate what I get. These cards are all between $90-120AUD.

I Only have 1g DDR RAM, that will be next upgrade though.
Pentium4 3ghz CPU.
9600 PRO card atm - lol, not a very game friendly card.
450w PSU, cant remember brand.
Windows XP

Any advice??

I had the same issue with my E6500K CPU on a Asrock 4CoreDual SATA 2 board around Christmas.
It was not supported by the then latest modded bios from PC Trebier.

Guy's I have been out of the loop for quite awhile now, for which motherboard is this bios intended for?

Nice to see you around again, Mr. Vain, tho what gives with the Junior member status? I seem to recall far more than 3 posts of yours. I myself am a bit resurrected of late as well.

That bios is for the 775. Last for 4CoreDual-VSTA is 2.39a. I do not have a reference offhand for the -SATA 2.0. All the bioses on pctreiber are now in dedicated forum threads per-board, no more dandy dedicated download pages.
