Hi,
Is it possible to make Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 with 4 GB ram?
I updated Bios, but Bios shows only ~3,2GB
What I have to do to get 4GB?

Sorry, limitation of these motherboards then, officially only support 2gb.

These mobo's are a bit of a compromise anyway.

I don't use a 64 bit OS, so I cant tell you what a 4coredual mobo with a 64bit OS would indicate for "operating" memory with 4GB fitted!?

However, just fitted 4Gb in my 4coredual-sata2 and the mobo's bios definitely shows 2x2Gb. When running my 32bit winxp setup, the OS indicates 3.25Gb is available. This is normal for a 32bit OS since it can only address up to 4Gb ---> because the computer's fitted devices (vga, HDD, whatever) must be mapped into memory space within the 4Gb max limit, the whole 4Gb is not available for general use?

Your 3.2Gb appears essentially same as "everyone" with a 32bit OS. Meaning either, a 4coredual-sata2/64bit_OS setup has no way of mapping above 4Gb, or, there is something not right about your 64bit installation ?

So, back to basics ---> and to remove any confusion ---> are you saying that your 64bit OS only shows 3.2Gb is fitted/available ??

And what do other 4coredual-sata2 users who are running 64bit OS's say ??

I don't think that those boards support "memory remapping", so you're never going to get the entire 4GB of RAM, sorry.

Is your comment based on the fact that you run a 4coredual-sata2 with a 64bit OS ?

My 4coredual-sata2 correctly indicates that 4Gb memory is fitted ---> but it also indicates, in DOS or before booted to a 64bit OS, that approx 750Mb has been mapped out of the 4Gb to cater for fitted devices, etc. ---> so surely the question is more about if a 64bit OS in a 4coredual-sata2 can map above 4Gb and therefore properly show the 4Gb that is fitted ??

So as previously posted, we need comments from some 64bit OS users ?

EDIT:-

After trying various methods of testing 4coredual-sata2's fitted memory, it would appear that whoever modded the bios to cater for 4Gb of memory instead of original max limit of 2Gb, did it in such a way that the mobo's onboard devices are always mapped within that 4Gb space ---> In which case, it may be true that nomatter which OS you use, your max "shown/available" memory would be limited to 4Gb minus whatever is required to map-in your mobo's onboard devices ---> typically 3.25Gb ---> and if so, then obviously not too bad an issue since 3.25Gb is still a lot more than original 2Gb limit?

WHY?

My guess would be that the left hand part of your linked image is correctly (for a 64bit OS) showing that 4GB is fitted to your mobo. With a 64bit OS, the 4Gb (or whatever actual memory is fitted) value should be shown at "My computer\Properties\General" tab.

Whereas the "windows Task manager" on right of image is showing only memory which is actually available for general use,ie, 4Gb minus memory mapped for mobo's onboard devices (vga, hdd's, whatever) ?
