Yes, it will work at the underclocked speed. Look on page 6 of this thread where someone else has used a 1333fsb cpu.

Hmm, so you got different settings for pcie by updating to 1.90a from 1.90 ? That means you have a different bios chip than I have.

There is no one "best" settings for all. Each system varies by the cpu used, the video card used, personal preferences, and importantly, the ram used. Only you can determine what is best for you by testing and running benchmarks for speed and stability.

Running in a 1:1 ratio is best, at the lowest timings for stability. That means with good ddr2 ram, 3-3-3-9 2T (1T with exceptional ram) timings at 533fsb.

I was hoping I could pick some people's brains here. I have been trying to get my mobo stable for a week now and am about at my wits end. I have been getting reboots/black screens during 3dmark06 when running a FSB of 295 or greater but can get stable at 290. The problem I have is that this stability only comes when I am waterchiling my system which in turns also cools down my case temps ( as low as 21C in case and can game for hours on end). If I run with no waterchiller (basic watercooling only) I can only game for 1/2 hour or so (at fsb 290)before it gets all screwey (reboots, black screens, errors, etc...). At first I thought it was my ddr ram but since trying ddr2 (geil pc28400) it is still doing the same thing. I also get some error that is along the lines "d3d error, cant find device" this seems to happen during 3dmark06 when changes from one test to another and screen flickers once or twice then all black, then error message. I tried installing 1.90 bios and still does the same. My video card is a Powercolor 3850 agp and it worked flawlessly in my previos setup with a P4C800e and P4 3.2e. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also as a sidenote I can get my ddr2 to run for hours when chilled at 3/3/3/6 cr1 with volts at low with a fsb of 290 (ddr2 580)!!

Yes but some option are the same for everyone like what Echo TPR disable is ?
What's the best for PCIE VC1 request Queue ?
GTL Control, 3V66 group delay ?

You could try setting vagp to high. Other than that, I would say you need to do the vagp mod and a cpu volt mod. What cpu are you using now ?

There isnt any reason to run with a Tras of 6, as there isnt any performance increase running that low, and may in fact benchmark slower than a Tras of 9 or higher. A Tras too low risks data corruption.

I havent been able to find good explanations for the above, so I leave them at the Optimized Defaults settings. PCIE VC1, I believe has to do with HD video playback.
GTL Control may be useful for people with quad cores, but I havent seen any good suggested settings.

I do enable Pipeline DRQCTL because it gives higher benchmarks.

I just recently upgraded to 8800gt from an x1950pro agp and now I'm experiencing artifacts in games (Textures apperearing out of nowhere, slight stuttering of games). Nothing is overclocked at this point. I've got an e4600 and g.skill 2x1gb ddr2 800 ram (F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ). The fact that the system won't run stable at 667 ram with auto timings definitely tells me that something's up, maybe my configuration? I did have to downgrade to gen1 bios for the video card that xfx provided. Motherboard bios is 1.90a. Any help at all would be appreciated.

EDIT: Also I just found out that the pcie slot is running at 2x and not 4x speed for some reason

EDIT2: Reinstalled the drivers and its back to 4x speeds and virtually all stuttering went away. Ram still refuses to run at 667 stable. Flexibility option sets it to ddr2 400 no matter what I choose.

Honestly, I am not sure as I usually run them at 3/3/3/8. Will try 9 to see if that maybe fixing my corruptions. As for the vagp to high, I have been using that setting and still get troubles. I really thought it was heat related since I can't run even at fsb of 266 for more than 20 minutes without it rebooting but when I run chilled it is no problem. Matter of fact tonight I was able to run at fsb of 313 and run a full series of benchmarks for about 3 hours or so without a singe hitch. Well, I did have one at 300, my screen flickered and turned off saying that my display was out of range and showed some really crazy frequencies. I then went into bios and ONLY changed the vlink connect to disable and left speed to fast and booted all the up to 310. I also have a feeling that my unusually cool case temp of 15C really helped with this also since I usually average around 22C but we had a cold front come thru today. Anyhow, thanks for the advice and heres a link for those interested of my max 3dmark06 score. And as for the CPU I have been running an e6700.

Will it be dangerous for my PCIE card ?

Does the PCIE have a incidence on SATA HDD ?

FYI...I just installed a PNY 9600 GT in my "non-Sata2" 4CoreDual and it fired right up. Did a quick benchmark (game tool) using COH (original, not OF) and with all setting on high (no AA/AF) at 1024x768 I got 31 minimum fps (and >60 avg. fps). Rest of system is Pentium D 925 (at 3.4 GHz) and 2 GBs of RAM. BIG improvement over my old X800XT (AGP) so I'm pretty happy with my $110 upgrade.

Not sure why this board sounds so picky about exactly which PCIe cards you can put in but the list of supported models seem to be harder to find up here in Canada eh! Not to mention I want to put a strong one in and then switch it to my next system I'm gonna build at my girlfriends..... Does this board only support PCI-E and not the 2.0's that seem all over the place? If thats the case, I might start building a new comp tomorrow, instead of buying a weak card or a strong one that won't work in this one for the interm.

let me say hi first,

i have the following rig

Q6600 CPU @ stock speeds
2 GB GEIL DDR 400 MHZ
4dual core sata 2
Club3d HD3850 AGP
2 IDE Drives
Vista 32 ult

the problem i have

the system keeps freezing up for a few seconds.
mostly in windows it seems ok but in games it just locks up then continues sometimes i can play for 30 mins without any problem
even now and then the system will stay frozen and i have to reboot

the sound usually starts stuttering then the screen locks up
no mouse or keyboard input possible

temps are ok not higher then 50

i don't know what to do i am running the 1.90 bios.

Which drivers are you using for your card? I was having something very similar happening but I recently installed the 8.4 drivers (the hotfix drivers) and have been able to play without any lockups at all. Matter of fact computer has been running for over 5 hours at fsb 290 with no reboots or lockups!! Unfortunately the drawback, at least for me, is that these drivers have allowed zero overclocking on my Powercolor 3850 agp. No matter what I try to overclock with or how slight the overclock I get the BSOD.

Also, are you using the onboard audio or do you have your own sound card? I was able to fix some of my troubles initially by moving my sound card to another slot which allowed me to reach higher overclocks. I can actually bench my system at fsb of 315 when I am using my waterchiller and have case temps @ 18C, but when I run with no chiller I cannot run anything higher than a 295 fsb.

One last things, what are the settings in your bios? Maybe there are somethings here you can tweak such as ram and agp voltages! Hope this helps!

i am using the 8.4
i must say reverting back to 8.2 and 8.3 makes it worse

windows enviroment seems stable now.

yes i am using the onboard sound card with the latest drivers from realtek 1.90

agp settings is 8x agp
ddr is set to 400 mhz
voltage agp to high

the rest is on auto and @ stock speeds

any tips?

everest reports 11.25 volts on the + 12

2nd report

had 1 lockup while unzip a iso file

installed a game it just locks up for a few secs then continues the game
i need help on this i cant seem to solve it

Are you using the 8.4 hotfix drivers? Honestly, I was having lots of troubles while trying to get this board to be stable and I think it was more about my video card than anything else. I tried every driver out there and the ones I am using now and seem rock stable are the xtreme g 8.3 drivers. For some reason these have given me some hope before my rma period for my board expires. I have two weeks left to decide whether this board will be stable enough for me to keep or not. As for the everest report, mine was doing the exact same thing except in the bios my 12 volt was reading 12.256. I downloaded motherboard monitor, messed with the settings to get the proper readouts and found that my psu was fine, it was reading 12.15 ~ 12.22. Have a feeling everest is reading from an incorrest sensor or something, but other than that everest has been spot on for the rest.

What do you have your FSB set at and what is your ram running at? You might consider getting some ddr2 ram since it is quite cheap at the moment. I just picked some up from the egg for @ 60 and I have been absolutely happy with them and they have worked great with the board. In case your interested here is a link to the kind I purchased:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820144119

Other than that all I can suggest is to keep messing with it as it took me nearly two weeks before I could get any good results!

The Q6700 is 2.66GHz default speeds.

You'd probably lose about 100-200MHz from the 5% underclock since I have the Q6600 (2.4GHz), but you can easily set the FSB to manual 266 and it will give the proper stock speeds.

Be wary though as many people's 4CoreDual-SATA2 motherboards tend to be different in terms of luck and the general concensus is that you won't be able to overclock much when using a Quad Core CPU.

For example, I am unable to get past 268 FSB, some are able to get into the 270's, and some even have trouble running it at stock 266. This is all just by doing it from the motherboard's BIOS.

Most people tend to have better luck overclocking slightly better from the O/S using the SetFSB program (Getting to around 280 FSB), but getting 3GHz on a Quad Core with this particular motherboard is near enough impossible. It is difficult for some owners of the Q6600 to even break past the Q6700 speeds.

So you'd either have to live with stock speeds and a slight overclock which barely makes much difference, or just go for a much better motherboard with decent overclocking capabilities. Afterall, this 4CoreDual-SATA2 is a budget crossover board, so you cannot really expected much.

Is anyone using the suspend to RAM function properly with this board? I am at present running at stock speed and the PC goes into suspend mode easily both in XP and vista but has difficulty waking up. When I wake up the PC the power and chasis fans come on but the HHD's don't seem to powerup and I get a blank screen on the monitor. I have to Physically restart the PC to get it running again.

Secondly, Is anyone using Ubuntu with this MoBo? Any issues at all specific to the MoBo hardware? I am hoping to experiment with the latest release of Ubuntu once it's out coming Thursday (24/04/08).

Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,
I update bios to version 1.9a, and then i try a new pair DDR2 memory modules 2x2GB =4GB (Adata extreme edition 800+) but my Asrock 4coredual sata2 with 4GB Ram dont work. What do you think - is it possible use 4 gb ram with a bios v 1.9a?

What do you mean by dont work ? Does it only work if one stick is in ? Or do you only see 3gb ? Look thru previous postings. IIRC, the most anyone has been able to use on this board is about 3gb.

When i insert one stick (2GB) is it OK (bios read 2gb), when i insert 2x2GB bios dont start- i see only black screen.
