I have this board and am trying to decide which video card to upgrade to. Been reading around for awhile now (BTW: the overclocking advice in this thread helped me some time ago, thx ) and think I can go with an EVGA 512-P3-N802-AR GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130319 ). It has the G92 core which I think means I won't have to flash the cards bios? I am using Asrock's 2.0 bios.
I want to go with a card that I can use later when decide to upgrade this thing.
Thanks in advance.
All original supplied G92 based 8800Gt's were incompatible with Asrock "VIA" chipset motherboards. The problem was resolved by a subsequent manufacturer provided 8800gt Bios upgrade !
I believe EVGA were the first to introduce the Bios upgrade solution, so their cards were originally recommended as best solution for people using "via" chipset mobos?
Of course, these days, most manufacturers should have introduced the bios upgrade fix, which means in theory it shouldn't matter whose card you purchase?
Only clue to "fix" being implimented by manufacturer is that the bios of a EVGA 8800gt 512mb card should be rev 62.92.24.00.xx series (or higher), and a MSI 8800gt 512mb card should have bios rev 62.92.23.00.xx series (or higher)?
