All righty then...
I have a Q6600 booting at 275 bus speed. (2.472 Ghz)
I can set it higher in the BIOS but around the mid 280's XP stops booting. Once the OS boots I can set it higher using the SetFSB utility up to 300 or so.
My system is configured as follows:
The CPU is Q6600 ACLR G0
It has the stock Intel HSF
I have a 500w XConnect Power Supply
...an ATI AIW 9000 AGP
...2x1 gig of PNY DDR-2 memory
The memory package states (PC2-5300 DDR2-677/533/400)
Two hard drives installed, one is SATA and the other is IDE.
...DVD burner and a regular DVD installed on the secondary ide channel.
Here are my Bios settings:
(Note: assume "AUTO" for everything I do not list here)

I am not sure why you (and some others) can't run the Q6600 at the full speed. I do know that there appears to be at least two types of this board.
The difference was discussed earlier in this thread. It seems that there are two types PLL clock generators used.
My board has the ICS953002DFLF chip. This is what I select in the Setfsb utility.
Maybe I just got lucky with the right set of sub components.
Hope the above helps.
