My problem is nowhere near as bad as Your's, I'm using the 2.11a bios on a new Rev 2.0 board.
Intel speedstep is enabled no matter how I set it in the bios, other than that settings are being saved no probs. AGP lock at 66mhz doesn't work, but that is a known problem.
I was doing some video encoding last night, cpu at 230x12.5 default 1.15v, didn't miss a beat.
I suspect there are some compatibility issues that need fixing with these e5xxx cpus.
The e7xxx series may be similar, but they are not the same, different fsb, 3mb cache instead of 2mb.
Mine for the most part is good, just the occasional no boot problem.

Amazingly enough I got it to boot at 266x10 earlier, AGP bus was running at 89mhz, so not surprisingly It did not boot at that speed again, kept going back to 200x10.
It failed to boot once only today, but that was after making a change in the bios, then just switched it off and on again and all was good.
I'm going to give it a month from purchase date before doing a vcore mod, just to make sure of the reliability before soldering the pcb and voiding the
warranty.

Hi!

I have seen some have 9600GT installed on their systems. What Bios does it needs to run 9600GT? I just saw newegg have EVGA 9600GT on sales and inching to try it. (mine MB is a Rev 1.0 though)

Otherwise I have my eyes on the ASRock 4Core1333-viiv MB ( but i have only seen two reviews on this board)

Thanks,

I'm getting an idea of what is going on with the bios problems now.
If I make a change, like setting Pcie to sync with cpu, previously 100mhz, then there is a good chance that will cause no boot upon saving settings and rebooting.
Last night I had to turn it off and on about 3 times before it would boot again, and that completely reset the bios to default.
It's as though the bios doesn't have rock solid communication with the mobo, especially after making some alterations.
It doesn't matter what I do with AGP speed, as it does not lock at 66mhz at all, which is why I will try Bsel mod on my e5200 eventually.
The mobo itself seems very stable otherwise, once settings have been sorted.

Thanks,

I'm running a XFX 9600GT here, I think I had the official BIOS 1.90 installed when I originally installed the 9600GT. No issues. I'm running the official BIOS 2.10 now with the same card and still no issues. I recommend manually setting PCIe sync to 100mhz in the BIOS with this card installed.

Thanks lowrider69. I still running 1.7 BIOS so I guess it is time to update before the card arrives this weekend.

Checked that, it measures 3.1v so definitely not that.

It has to be a Bios issue of some sort as it happens mostly after making changes in the bios, and is a lot more reliable on a normal startup and reboot.

PCI devices I have attached are Belkin Wireless 54mbps Nic
Realtek 8169 Gigabit PCI ethernet
Dvico Digital HD tuner

Video is Powercolor HD3850 AGP.

Could be one of those with some weird compatibility issue causing it, there is bound to be another bios update come along soon, so I'll see what difference that makes.
If I had to pick a most likely culprit, I would say the video card, as the Powercolor cards had a lot more issues with via and nvidia chipsets than Intel which was 100% as far as compatibility went. The sapphire cards had no real problems, and worked well with nearly all chipsets.

One other thing, Bios reports +12v at 12.38v, speedfan and everest both report 11.7v, with prev mobo, it was reported as 12.4v in bios and windows.

Hi all,

My turn to have an issue. I am running: 4CoreDual-VSTA || Treiber 2.33c bios || E4500 @ 9x300 || 7600 GT AGP @705/825 || 1xWD640 SATA || 2xMaxtor 160GB || 1xDVD-RW || Ultra X-2 550W || XPSP3

My system has been running stable at the above settings for quite some time (months) with no hardware or bios changes. Two days ago, the system started to freeze up entirely some 10-15 min. after booting...

GastlicCraeft* has been debugged and resurrected.

Literally, it was a BUG. I mean a nasty little flying critter that spilled its guts on my mobo in its own little private electrocution. One tweezer lift and a little cleaning was all that was needed.

Took me a week to get around to cracking the case open and taking a look. Meanwhile, I had enabled internet on my PIII-S Classic Gaming Machine, which promptly fried a questionable USB 2.0 add-on board the USB wifi dongle was connected to, which led to no OS boot, which led to a Win98SE re-install, which led to more hardware debugging...

No posthumous service was held for the bug.

*Gastlic = Old English for ghastly, ghostly = "Spiritual"
Craeft = Old English for craft, apparatus = "Machine"

Could it be true?
Cpu Temp is below 50C but one of core temp is about 73 (some old software shows more than 78C)and the other is about 66.
Why core temps are 20C more than cpu temp?
Why one of core is always warmer than the other? ( cpu usage is 100%)
My cpu heat sink is very clod even below of it and I think core temps are not correct, any Idea?

Sounds like you need to reinstall your heat sink, don't use too much compound.

Speedfan 4.34 shows correct temps, 4.37 does not (higher).
Latest Everest shows same as Speedfan 4.34
Ambient temp here is about 27 C at the moment, just turned computer on and temps
are as follows at idle,

Core 0 36C - 37C
Core 1 37C
CPU temp 32C

At 100% (running 1024m wPrime) load temps are

Core 0 44C - 45C
Core 1 49C
CPU temp 36C

What temp does it show in Your Bios?

I am using a Zalman 7000 all copper heatsink BTW, idle temps are not that low, but under load it doesn't climb all that much, will be interesting to see what happens after BSEL and Vcore mods have been done.

I am using Stock Fan (of E4500) and mode vcore to 1.424V Max.
bios shows the correct temp of cpu( the same that fan speed shows)

In my old cpu E4500, cpu temp was 55C and core temp was 68C at full load and 1.55V the difference was about 13C but here the difference is more than 20C. I think this mobo dose not show correct temp for E5200 cores.

Microsystem, try putting Your fingers somewhere on the cpu heatsink, if it is really getting to 70 degrees the heatsink will be rather hot to touch.
If it is cool then obviously the readings are bogus.

I would suggest dropping vcore, unless You have modded the cpu Bsel to run way over 3.3ghz, You don't need 1.424v

What is the default Voltage for Your cpu btw, mine is 1.1625v.

Well, I've been doing a lot of research and Tomorrow will go out and get a Circuit writer pen from Jaycar here in Brisbane Australia, then I'm doing the BSEL 800FSB - 1066FSB mod on the cpu.
I was going to vcore mod the mobo, but as I am having boot issues with the bios after making changes, will leave it alone in case I have to RMA it at some point.
I will Vid mod the cpu for 1.3375v, up from 1.1625v standard, hopefully enoughh for 266x12.5 stable.

I'll post my success or failure results later, and a link to pics.

Just adding my experiences to this thread. Feel free to message me directly if anyone has questions about using these parts.

My board came with bios 2.00 and booted an E7200 (266x9.5), 2gig DDR400, and a 3850 AGP perfectly without any special settings.

I upgraded to Corsair 2gig DDR2 and had trouble with crashes at normal 1:1 ratio (266 or DDR533). Set it to 333 or DDR667 and it works perfectly. Memory compatibility mode on, and high voltage.

I upgraded to an ASUS 4850 PCIe (680/1050), and used DOS to flash bios L2.02 before installing. Put the new 8.12 ATI drivers, and it works flawlessly without changing any settings.

I'm going to buy a UD3P and go for a nice overclock, but this board exceeded my expectations and worked with DDR, DDR2, AGP, and PCIe with almost no problems! I play Crysis at 1920x1080 mix of medium/high settings at a smooth, consistent 30-35fps. I play CS:S at 1920x1080, 4xaa, 16xaf, everything else maxed at ~120-150fps.

i have rev2.0 modbo with 2.1 bios, c2d e4300, 2x1gb patriot pdc22g6400elk. my problem is that the memory stars like 1024mb if fsb are set higher than 250. if i lower the fsb everything starts ok (2gb dual). where is my mistake? memory timing 5 5 5 12. flex mode doesn't helps.

Try manually setting the memory timings in bios, also some people have reported success putting DDR2 voltage to Low.

Well, as promised I said I would share my E5200 BSEL and VPIN mods success or failure,

Amazingly it worked 1st boot, could hardly believe it, especially as I spent ages trying to figure out a good way to use the very awkward circuit writer pen I got for $25 AUS from Jaycar today.
Booted at 3333mhz, 12.5x266, and at 1.3375v, check the following link out for pics and a more detailed explanation.

http://forums.guru3d.com/showt...?p=2927780#post2927780

I notice also temps have gone about 4-5 degrees higher, and +12v is 0.1v lower at 11.6v, so maybe power supply has been causing my boot issues. Will try a better one at a friends at a later date.

it doesnt work unfortunately. voltage set low, timings set manual to 5 5 5 12(not work if fsb >250)), i was try to set them to 4 4 4 8 and... not work if fsb are set >250)
