Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA available now

$59 for the board + $25 to ship = too much for a budget build. However, for someone who wants to experiment with this board vis-a-vis the 775dual-vsta, it might be interesting.

I almost ordered this yesterday, but web site says 10 days for shipping. By then it will be 2/24 or so. AsrockUSA has emailed me saying that the board will be available next month in the USA. I figured it's best to wait until it arrives in the USA because RMAing the board, if needed, would be difficult since one may have to ship it all the way back to Australia.

Hmmm, I went through creating an account up to clicking to submit my order & there was no low order fee. But anyway, if this will soon be available in the US I'll wait a couple of weeks or whatever.

I just got this email reply from ASRock's California sales office:
"It will be available around 4/07. Thanks ! !"

In light of this, I need to re-verify the shipping & may order from OZDirect.

I was just thinking that for the ~$110 one would spend to get this board from Australia, one could get the 775Dual-VSTA for ~$63 shipped from Newegg and then buy the updated 4CoreDual-VSTA for approximately the same price whenever that comes out. Total would be ~$125-$130 and you get 2 boards!

But I think when the board was new, wasn't it more like 90 bucks?

it's really not a new board per se (has official support for the quad core processors), so hopefully it won't be that much more expensive.

When that board becomes widely available in the states they will have to price it around $100 or more regardless of what they COULD sell it for because they aren't going to get rid of the Dual VSTA or reduce it to $40 or less so it makes sense for them to charge double for the Quad version (or US "sense" that is).
