I have just tried A new 8600gt pci-e and after i I installed the card it would not go past the windows xp splash screen without going black. Windows still continues to boot but the screen stays black. I returned the card and got a 7900s instead, it acts the same but instead of just going black the monitor comes up as disconnected. I can see Bios and post messages but nothing after that. Any help would be awsome!

The label on the side of the PSU would have the ratings but 500W is most likely sufficient to at least boot into windows and use 2D video. Did you uninstall your previous video card driver? Can you boot into safe mode?

I cant boot ito safe mode or vga mode. The best pcie card I have used so far is a 7100 with no problems. I dont think this board likes new pcie cards

Little point:
The Intel Pentium E2180 is also a Conroe architecture chip, it justs uses another marketing name, Pentium vs Core 2 Duo, but the chip itself is a Core 2 with less cache enabled and less FSB speed.

Hi guys,
I need some help. I have a 4coredual and I would like to buy a new hdd - a WD SATA2 400AAKS. But on WD's site I read that VIA's southbridge VT8237 has problems working with these new drives. But in the same time it is possible to force the drive to work in SATA1 mode using a jumper.
Has anyone succeed to make work an AAKS drive on this board?
Thanks a lot.

I'm sure I can jumper the drive. But will it work?
Seagate 7200.10 SATA2 drives work, but what about WD AAKS SATA2? Nobody has these drives on this MB?

That is the mod that I would like to use.
I am just not sure which mod to use,
as my 4500 is at 1.26v and the mods listed
don't show that voltage.
I have managed to up the vcore to 1.3 and now it seems much better for stability at this clock.
I would still like to get up to around 1.4- 1.5v.

Edited to add: I have managed to get up to 1.35vcore now and is running fine at 300 fsb (3300mhz). It probably will go higher, as prime 95 has been on for a half hour with no errors. I think I will leave well enough alone now, I don't want to break it!!!

Hi all!

I've been reading this invaluable thread for some time now, congrats to Mr Vain and all participants.
I now find myself able to give something back:
SMUGLA, greetings! I have had that same memory for the past 2 months and have had no problems with it.

My specs:
4CoreDual-VSTA Bios 2.0
E4500 & Zalman 9700LED
2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 675Mhz
Palit GF6800GS AGP 256Mb (492/1394(On a good day...))
2x160Gb Seagate SATA (RAID 0)
Xion 500W (? Seems ok...)
Xion Solaris Case (Total POS; I hate it!)

I put this machine together with the intention of overclocking the hell out of it (soon). It's amazing how much I've already learned!
I'll let you know how I get on.

Mine is running at 1.26v and I am not sure which mod diagram to use.

I would guess it is 1.325v; try checking with Core Temp, tho I am unsure how reliable it is. Hopefully another poster can offer some insight.

Are you considering doing the BSEL mod? I look forward to hearing how that goes, since I have an E4500 sitting here for another board and might plop it into the 4Core instead (dreaming of 11x300FSB).

I have completed the bsel mod as well as a vcore mod.
The mod to use for the E4500 is located here:
http://sg.vr-zone.com/articles...tage_Boost/3904-3.html
The default voltage on my processor was only 1.26v which kinda thru me off.
Using the 1.41v mod only results in 1.35v, but still allows me to run at 300 fsb stable and stays very cool with the stock cooler. I haven't tried to go any higher than 300, cause I was so happy to get this far.
I also would like to mention that my E4500, in this board booted at 266 fsb with all bios settings at default. This resulted in a instant overclock of 2.9ghz, right out of the box.
I started out with a E6300 in this board and even after a 1.41v mod, it would only got to 2.08ghz.
I was able to trade even for the E4500 and it is a far better match for this board.
I'm sure that the E4600 will be very popular for the same reason as it is 2.4ghz stock or a 12x multi.
