Asrock 775 dual-vsta 3.19a bios winflash

Newbie here looking for help. Can somebody please explain how to update my 3.10 bios to 3.19a using a winflash utility. I can't even find a version of winflash that will work since the bios is from AMI and not Award. I've spent a few hours reading through threads here and still haven't found what I'm looking for. I have the 3.19a bios file but have no idea what program to use to do the update. I don't have a floppy drive so i would like to try a winflash utility. Thanks, Lee

Well I feel better now, 35 hits and no reply. Maybe what I'm asking is not so simple after all. I do have a cdrom drive so if anyone has put 3.19a on a boot disc and done the update that way please let me know. Thanks again.

Probably because you're trying to accomplish something that isn't possible. AMI and Award license and copyright their own BIOS chips and software and communicate with each other differently, so why are you trying to use software from one company to write to another (when it would likely screw up your BIOS if it worked at all)?

There's also the fact that ASRock also provides Windows-based flashing for their BIOS, complete with instructions and no floppy required.

Sorry, I probably should have said that I have already been to the Asrock website and used their winflash to install the latest official bios available for my board which is 3.10. Took less than 2 min and was a piece of cake!
Unfortunately 3.10 does not support any of the wolfdale core 2 cpu's. For that you must have 3.19a which is an unofficial bios found on a German website call pctreiber. There are MANY folks on this site running the 3.19a bios and wolfdale core 2 cpu's. The winflash for AMI is called AFUWIN or something like that. Did any of the folks running 3.19a use some type of winflash program? Hopefully somebody running 3.19a will stop by and tell me how they did it.......

Interesting...the DOS flash versions include the ASRflash utility they use. I found a guide to make a bootable CD, make it with the ASRflash utility and modified the BIOS, restart, boot from the disc, run the utility.

Those Asrock , its does not work at all or stable , with the latest CPU.
They do not have capable electrical parts around the socket,
so to properly support anything as dual or quad.

Get a better board , move on .

The whole point of the exercise is to improve the system. These boards actually
work well with c2d's (not as fast as newer boards,but hey,
this one has outlasted my foxconn)
the most limiting factor is 2 gig ram.I know, because I am using this one NOW
with an E6600, 2 gig and a 3850 with win7.
If you are gonna commit to the expense of a new board, you might as well flash the old one first!
Pertinently, if he wants to risk flashing for the cpu updates, the 7xxx series cpu's are the same 65w TDP and 8% faster per clock cycle than the 6xxx series. If it will handle a stock 90watt quad I am sure any duo will be fine power wise. Making old junk fast is the name of the game here,
