ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Compatibility

I know a lot of people building Core 2 Duo systems on the cheap say the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA is is a phenomonal board. I plan on using one as the core of my new system. My question is, can I use a E6300 (1066 FSB part) with PC-3200, and everything run at spec speeds? From what I can tell from limited information, it will work in some sort of asynchronous mode. I was hoping someone on anand has experience with this sort of setup and can confirm this before I end up blowing $250.

that board uses the same chipset my ecs board does that i got in a combo from fry's. i first fired it up with the e6400 and ddr400, and it works fine, albeit a bit slower.

Thank you very much. I am an AMD user, stock in synchronous land, and this move to Intel got me a bit worried. I also read that The current batch of DDR2, with it's high latencies, is not considerably better than DDR. I have PC-3500 that does DDR 466 at CAS 2 without breaking a sweat. Go Mushkin! =)

Yes, the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA will work fine with the C2D cpu and that PC3200 DDR.

The ASRock board is remarkable because it pretty much works with whatever you have. I started with DDR and AGP. Then upgraded the videocard to PCI-E and then the RAM to DDR2(almost no difference with benchmarks from the DDR). Ultimately I replaced the ASRock mobo with a Gigabyte DS3 because I wanted to do some serious overclocking.

The ASRock board is quite good if you are looking for a cheap path to C2D and if you want to re-use some slightly older parts. I wish my DS3 had 2 IDE connectors like the ASRock board has... some day I will "upgrade" my HD's to SATA.
