I've maxed out the FSB at 304MHz. No matter which memory divider was used, 304 was the most. 305 worked, but only booted a few times. And this was using Corsair dual channel PC2 8500. But what do you expect from such an inexpensive board.

I've done a little reading on this now. I hope they come out with another board that supports DDR for conroe, overclocks a little better and has a full blown 16x pci-e port.

Any idea of the performance hit with running a 7800GT on the 775Dual-VSTA because of the PCIe x4 limitation?

i have 1GB of DDR2 533 memory.
the board max is 340 FSB.
can i start overclocking my cpu now ?

negligable i'd imagine, unless you're running at res/settings far beyond the card's ability in the 7800GTs case

asrock + core2duo (no 7800gt though)

Yeah, the AGP implementation is good, the PCI-E doesn't appear to be as crash hot, although the fact it's still slower when the x4 thing should not be limiting it suggests that it's an issue with the VIA PCI-E controller not being as good as their AGP one...In the big round up that i can't find right they showed results with higher end cards & they were pretty good until you started to hit very crazy res/AA levels...

You can only select the RAM speed in the BIOS. Divider is automatically set. Since I'm using only DDR400 currently, can only confirm these dividers

DDR266 - 3/4
DDR333 - 3/5
DDR400 - 1/2

My Asrock 775Dual-VSTA rocks!

I have a 3 GHz 530Prescott in at a max stable (234FSB = 3510 MHz) on
Geil DDR2 667Mhz 2GB dual channel value ram

WOW (510 MHz Overclock) with no voltage increase! (Happy Happy.)

GUY'S this 667 MHz DDR2 Ram is incredible! No compatibility issues and runs out of the box by SPD at 3-3-3-9 1T Wow! :Q
http://www.geilusa.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber=52

Pity that Anandtech did not try this ram out on their 775Dual-VSTA tests!
Tom?s hardware speaks highly of it. It achieved the highest overclocking margin of all their rams 41% and maxed out at DDR2 942Mhz
http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/04/11/live_memory_test/page20.html

I have it now on 3-2-2-5 1T on auto voltage with no stability issues at all.

I hope its not late and that Gary can chuck in a couple of these Geil slabs in, for his last Asrock roundup and be very surprised by its performance.

Other reviews on this motherboard and previous model.

I overclocked my D915 from stock 2.8GHz (200 FSB) to 3.0GHz (215 FSB).
My memory clock moved from 266 to 287. This certainly limits my overclocking because i don't think that is safe for my memory. Is there any way around this (keep memory clock stable)?

can the people buying this board post if they are getting a bios that supports conroe/allendale. i don't want to buy this board and not be able to use it w/the e6300 as i have no older cpu to use to flash the mobo.

I've recently been considering this cheap option for the Conroe myself.

My DDR RAM is high grade XMS Corsair and my videocard is an X850XT AGP and I want the added CPU power for encoding and that type of thing... my current rig plays games just fine but if I could encode faster and save a few hundred and put off a complete upgrade I would be happy. The added CPU power certainly wouldn't hurt my gaming either.

Unfortunately right now it's hard for me to justify $1000 for a complete system upgrade when this $55 ASRock 775Dual-VSTA and a $370 E6600 will give me what I need and give me a chance to wait for decent, reasonably priced, motherboards to come out.

My ATI XT850PE works perfect on this motherboard with all the bios versions so far produced.

Overclocking query

My rig:
E6300 (Revision B2 Stepping 6)
ASRock 775Dual-VSTA (Bios 1.50)
2x1024MB (2GB) MDT DDR PC3200 (400mhz) listed as 2.5 3 3 7 1T

Being fairly new to overclocking I have some questions as I hope to overclock to a E6400 (2130) but understand there are limited options for this mobo.

Ok so I have set Enable flexible RAM options, set the Bus Speed to 290, and have set the following ram settings (read from cpu-z):

Memory:
Frequency 387 MHz
FSB : DRAM 3:4
ram settings: 2.5 3 3 6 2T

and CPU:
Core Speed: 2031.5MHz
Bus Speed: 290.2 MHz
Rated FSB: 1160.8Mhz

The FSB : DRAM divider appears to be set auto by the board ... interestingly when I had disable set for flexible ram the divider was something like 1:5 (or was it 5:1?) either way the frequency was over 500mhz !

Could someone tell me what these numbers actually mean??
If in the bios my RAM is set at 400MHZ dual channel then why only 387MHz in cpu-z ?
What exactly is the Rated FSB ?
Is is best to put my RAM settings back to the listed and then tweak cpu bus speed ?
Are there any other settings in the bios that should be changed ?
Should I upgrade to 1.70 ?
Will it be safe enough to keep pushing for 2130 MHz ?

So far I have experienced no problems with the above setup.

Cheers for the help !!

"FSBRAM" is a ratio of the cpu FSB speed relative to the memory frequency. Stated differently, the memory will run 4/3 as fast as the cpu FSB. So multiply the cpu FSB by 1.3333333, and that will be your memory speed ( 290 * 1.33333 = 386.6657).

So that means in theory I should be able to go further to at least a memory speed of 400 ?

BUMP

also for this board the FSB : RAM ratio is automatically set (is there somewhere in the bio where you can set manually) ?
Where can what voltage my RAM is currently running at ? I don't see it in cpu-z
Is it possible to set the RAM voltages on this board ?

..have had some 2-3-2-6-1 kingston memory for 2 years now (KHX3200AK2_1G)
used to be on a ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe. only did 2.5-3-3-12-1
now with the asrockdual-vsta i can't keep it stable unless i run at ~3-3-3-12-2 (400mhz)

why can't I even come close to 2-3-2-5 1T anand got with Patriot PDC1G3200LLK memory?

and is it possible to get 340mhz fsb with the asrock?

ps. had a no boot thingy with 3-3-3-12-2 (flexible off) ..I really miss asus

I'm sure your results will increase if you use memory flexible option on.

I could do 2-2-2-5 2T on Kindmax Hardcore ddr ram with (flexibility option on) but did not try it with 2-2-2-5 1T.

nope you'd think so wouldn't you
have tried lots of settings.
first i thought the strange behavour and reboots were due to something else. but setting the ram to slow and flex on cured it. just tried with 2-3-2-7-2, but nooo...

even 2.5-3-3-12-2 seemed to make my pc sound like and old man farting. it got really slow. before i'd get a reboot shortly after hearing the churning

i must be doing something wrong. or maybe my ram is just bad
