Ok, i know this isn't the video forum, but does anybody know why my 3dmark06 scores seem so low? I just checked and some people seem to get around 1400, or double me, with the same or lesser chips and the same gfx card. Does system memory make a big diff to the test or am i missing a driver or something?

I wonder what bios 1.4 and 1.5 would do? They are specifically for Conroe.

Not too keen on going to an older bios like 1.1... if it didn't post I'd be screwed as I wouldn't have any way to fix it.

For what it's worth, my board came with 1.3 but I flashed it to 1.7 almost immediately.

Be sure that you have stuff like AntiAliasing and any other graphical options turned off on your videocard before running 3dmark06. More RAM would definitely help too.

My 3dMark06 went from 1975(P4-3.06) to 2300(E6400) and to 2311 with it overclocked to 290fsb. My videocard is an X850XT AGP and I have 2x512 Corsair XMS DDR.

I moved the FSB up from 200 to 215.
My D915 2.8 is at 3.02GHz but it pushes my memory from 533 to 587. Is that okay?

try comparing your individual scores (export to excel to copy and paste ) to see where the prob might be:

mine:
with CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (@2.0ghz)
3DMark06 Score 3723 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score 1486
HDR/SM3.0 Score 1430
CPU Score 1694

nvidia 7800GS (450/1300)
drivers: 91.31
2 x 1024mb PC3200 ram

your cpu score should be similar ! Also make sure you run everything on default settings in 3Dmark06

If it was not ok it would have crashed the system by now.

Dell Ram??
Never heard of dell making ram.
Most memory manufactures give you a lifetime warranty and it?s not the fsb that?s going to kill ram its higher voltage than what this motherboard can supply.

You can buy bios replacement chips on ebay etc.

I've already spent all I can afford right now on this system.

In 3dmark06 with my 6600gt and stock e6300 i'm getting:
SM2.0 score: 264
hdr/sm3.0 score: 191
CPU Score: 1552

This is with pretty much everything turned off in the vid card options as well as high performance being selected. Any ideas on what is causing this low score? would any bios setting or missing mobo driver do this? I have looked around and it seems about double this, 1300-1400, is the norm for a 6600gt with a good dual core cpu.

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

For some reason 3dmark said it was running at 300mhz for the core, i checked and it's running at 500 like it should. I even overclocked it to 550/1100 and that hardly budged my score, went to 328/200 with a total of 753. As far as i can tell all bios options are good, i have 8x enabled and fast writes, this is an agp card. I'm running the newest driver version from nvidia, i went back to the old drivers from january that most benches seem to have been run with, but with those i was down in the 670s at stock gpu and cpu. Are there any specific bios options that i should make sure are on or off? The odd thing still to me is that my 3dmark05 scores are spot on, and in 06 my cpu score always seems to be where it should, it's just the gfx having problems, games seem to run fine though so maybe i should just throw in the towel about the benchmark, but it is annoying.

In case anybody out there still cares, or if you are also getting abnormally low 3dmark06 scores, make sure that your agp aperture is set high enough. Bumping mine up from 64mb to 128mb basically doubled my score. I just got 1451 (555, 491, 1556) with gfx and cpu at stock.

Thanks for that, I too have increases the AGP Aperture to 128Mb but have not done any tests yet to see if I benefited from the change.

lol..thought i took one for the team their for a second and was going to have to exercise the rapid rma plan i paid extra for on this board flashed to 1.8..and it sat at the screen where my add on ide promise tx2 card bios comes up...no f2 or f11 option..so i hard shut down..yikes..it was ok though..realized quickly that i might see the typical "bad checksum..press f2" message if i disabled my tx2 card..voila..there it was, went to f2 and ..boring..nothing for us ddr guys new (as i guess i expected by the description) for the hell of it, while there i increased my fsb from 266 just to 275 to see if that divisor would hold (3:5) versus the 3:4 at 285..it does..cpu-z says my ddr 400 is running at 459 and no problems.

i know there have been some reports of cpu-z reading some memory things wrong, but i believe from what i've seen it has nothing to do with incorrectly mem frequency readings as the conroe and 880pro/ultra chipset on this board have been supported for 4 versions now..but possibly reading spd wrong.

Has anyone tried using an aftermarket heatsink on the mobo chipset or jerry rigging a fan to the chipset heatsink to see if this would help increase stability? i'm wondering if this would make any difference on the overclocking front. Also, has anyone else tried an older bios and benefited with overclocking? 1.10 seemed to allow a higher fsb for me than 1.70 is allowing.

Hey interesting ... I had set my AGP aperture to 128mb straight away ... I also tested on 256 but noticed no difference in scores
