ASRock 775Dual-VSTA overclocking experiences?

With the v2.40 BIOS, I can clock my E6600 at FSB 295 for 2.67GHz. When I used to have an AGP card installed--the BFG 6800GT OC flashed to Ultra--I had to set the PCIe option as async and run it at 117MHz.

With the PCIe BBA 1900XT 512MB, I can set FSB 295MHz but with PCIe set to "sync" and running at 111MHz. Besides this change, every other setting has remained the same from AGP to PCIe GPU.

BTW, the RAM divider is set to 'DDR333" with 3-4-3-8 on my 2x512MB DDR400 Kingston Value RAM.

I have just setup my pc with E4300 and 1.5 gig no name pc3200, with x800pro AGP card.

Currently running at 2.36 GHZ with ram at pc3200 setting (hdwinfo32 shows 193mhz ram speed). 5hrs prime95 stable and I am only at 265mhz front side bus. Maxed out it runs 41 degrees with stock HSF.


I am going to turn the ram down to pc333 and try setting the bus to 300mhz.
The E4300 multiplier really helps with this board. I couldn't be happier so far for the peanuts I have spent. Day and night from my crappy p4 3.0 prescott that would hit 70 degrees just trying to boot up.

I've owned this mobo for 6 months now and I'm impressed by its stability and performance despite the cheap price I've paid for. This mobo has allowed me to upgrade the PC piece by piece until I've reached my current level of build seen in my sig.

I was kind of apprehensive about puttinjg DDR2-800 in there b/c officially, this mobo only supports upu to DDR2-667. Surprisingly, the PC booted up just fine from the first time.

My gaming experience improved greatly from when I used to running a Prescott 2.8GHz at 3.3GHz paired with a 6800Ultra. Now, I can play Gothic 3 (v1.12) at 1280x1024 with all settings maxed out and with AF with only few occasional stutters due to HDD access.

Once the R600 comes out and the DX10 GPU choices become more widely available, then I'll finally retire this board and get a better overclocking mobo.

after i read about mr.vain's OC, i was superly encouraged to get a d805+asrock 775dualvsta combo
so i did, cuz i had ddr ram and agp to reuse
for some reason, i cannot seem to get past 3.0ghz, gets unstable at 3.1, no windows at 3.2, no post 3.3

i even did the vcore mod to 1.6v ~ it did work, but didnt help the OC
my system is as follows:
d805
asrock 775dual-vsta
2x512mb pc4000 ddr250 kingmax hardcore (i can do up to 260mhz on this thing in my past rig)
6800 agp
antec sp500 (all rails are stable, there is a vdroop tho, but i heard u can pencil mod it (but dunno where))
tt big typhoon - 62C full load at 3ghz (was 55C at 3ghz before i did the mod)

is there some secret bios setting i need to do? or is the bios im using just suck, its the latest one i think

With my budget pc3200 I topped out at 260mhz with my E4300, turned ram down to ddr333 setting and now I am stable at 280=2.5ghz, and still have room to go. When I get home tonight I am going to shoot for 300mhz. My RAM and X800PRO are becoming a huge bottleneck!

i have a pentium d 925 3.0 @ 3.6ghz.. i havent tried to go higher because im using the stock heatsink and fan. stock vcore, stock everything.

after reading another post by max payne
he seems to have the same cpu+mobo+ram combo as me and got reasonably good OC
so i tried out bios version 1.5, downflashed from 2.5,
lost my audio
so flashed up to 1.9,, sound is back,
testing now
