I'll be buying this motherboard soon along with a Pentium D 805.
My budget has prevented me from getting a Conroe right away.
This board supports Conroe so the upgrade won't be a problem.
I'll only need to change it when i upgrade my graphics card.
I currently use an AGP 6600GT.

Now my question (finally...lol)...
How much can i really squeeze out of this godly budget mobo?

  1. Thread closed due to its age. Feel free to start a new thread with any subject regarding this board.

With a max FSB of 340 for this "godly budget mobo"...that's not bad at all.
I read this article before...they took an E6700 from 2.67 to 2.97 (+11% OC).
I'm getting a Pentium D 805 with this board.

What i want to know is how high could i OC the 805?
Keep in mind that the multiplier on the 805 is locked at 20x...
The FSB on the cpu is stock at 133... it would hit 3GHz at 150 FSB...

Why are people ignoring my question?
Anyone know how well this board does? Any owners out there?

I want the skinny on this board from a user also. At the price, it MAY be a great interim board for use with my older computer parts, until I decide on the components to replace them with. I am in NO hurry to get ripped during this upcoming conroe buying frenzy, been there done that...heh...I still have a bad taste in my mouth about the rip job done to my butt over my purchase of the Nvidia NV1 graphics brd in the 90s. Yes..I don't forget...but I learn. I WILL have a nice conroe system, but at my pace and not at one set by some marketing weinie.

Sorry to hear about that.
This board based on reviews is great but...
The opinion of someone who have actually used it, not just tested it, would be greatly appreciated.

tag since I also picked up this board in the mean time for my Conroe system until I can get a Conroe compatible Shuttle XPC towards the end of August

It depends on your CPU. You will not be able to change the VCore settings as stated on this board, did not make it past 146 with our 805D due to this.

I know this board supports both DDR and DDR2, but is it possible to run a Conroe with regular DDR400 that I already have?

Yes, we are testing the board with the 1.4 bios now. Should have a short review up late next week that will compare DDR to DDR2 on this board along with 7600GS AGP and PCIe comparisons.

Awesome, thanks for the reply Gary! I have an old S754 Athlon 64 2800+ with 1GB of DDR400 and a recently-acquired 6600GT OC. I am looking to reuse the video card for sure but I have been leaning towards getting a value 2GB kit of DDR2667 to replace my old RAM if there is a worthwhile difference in performance (or maybe juste buy one stick of DDR667 and get another when Vista comes out hehe).

146 FSB * 20x Multiplier = 2920 MHz
2.92 GHz.....is this bad, ok or good for a $60 mobo ?

Does this board support the Pentium D 915?
It supports Conroe, so I don't see why it shouldn't but...
I just want to be sure.

I found my answer...the 915 is supported.
How far could i overclock the D915 on this board?
Stock voltage though...board doesn't allow you to change it.

Nobody can answer that. Every chip is different. Nobody else has your chip to play with. But people have been getting over 4ghz on air with it (but has to increase voltage) so you won't get as high.

I figured as much. I'd be overjoyed if i can get 3.5GHz stable though.
What you guys think...
Is that possible on stock voltage and a Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler ?

Not too bad, but if overclocking is that important I would wait and save your money.

its not that important in a sense...as long as i'm running faster than i am now...
so if at stock i'm blazing...i'm fine but...as an upcoming enthusiast...
i like overclocking...juicing those 2 last MHz out of it (safely of course...).

i'm going with the D 915 though.

Can't wait I was thinking of buying this as an ultra-value cpu/motherboard combo too!

I have this mobo with D 805 max OC is (170FSB) 3400Mhz
Stable (168 to 169 FSB) for 3360 to 3380Mhz with 1Gb Kingmax Hardcore 500 DDR Ram with Memory timings of 2.5-3-3-5.

I also have put in my 3Ghz 530prescott in it for a max FSB 235 = 3525Mhz
I have it stable on 233FSB for 3497Mhz on with 1Gb Kingmax Hardcore DDR 500 Ram with Memory timings of 2.5-3-3-5

Using the 1.5 Bios

Well, how does it look like with DDR1/AGP - is it viable combo?

Memory questions will be answered on Wednesday, AGP on Friday in our upcoming reviews.
