As for the crashes...That could very well be so but i would suggest you check your power supply.

On another note the voltages seem a bit low in BIOS 11.27 for 12v and 3.21 for 3.3. They were a lot better on my ASus A7n8x-x.... could this be causing the crashing I am having?
Those voltages are definitely on the low side. My Antec TP430 runs a little low sometimes but not that low. And I play Prey too and I've never experienced a crash... if it's not your power supply you might want to look at the videocard drivers. You should also make sure you are running the latest bios. Good luck.

Thought they were a bit low... but my powersupply is a goodun.... with no prior problems... I put it down to the M/B. Got the system a bit more stable last night. Updated the BIOS from 1.6 to 1.8, disabled flexibility option, and CPU-Z said my RAM was running at 700 odd Mhz with a divider of 3/8. Eeks. That didnt look right. Turned flexibility on, back to 1/2 divider and 528Mhz or similar. Much better. Prey played for 15mins without crashing and Oblivion behaved itself too. Still worried about those voltages...

Is it advisable to up AGP voltage to High? DRAM voltage to high too? Any other tips?

Ta muchly....

I'm having the same problem as some of you. If I install Catalyst the computer hangs when loading XP. It works with old drivers that were slipstreamed to the XP installation CD I used, those drivers are from 2004. 3dMark2003 can be run ok with those drivers, so there shouldn't be any problems with the system otherwise.

Has anyone solved the boot problem?

I've just got this board. Open Box.

I've install Crucial Rendition 512 DDR2-533 in it, with P-D 805, with a AGP 4X card, nothing else is plugged no HDD, or FDD.

I never get this thing booting. Could it be the ram?

.....

Okay, let me tell you guys what I bought.

P-D 805
Crucial 512 DDR2-533
775Dual-VSTA (Open - Bios Ver. 1.00)
Asus Case - TA250 ATX Mid Tower (Open)
ATI Radeon VE - AGP 2/4X

I've check the ram issue, not the problem, because I've lend my friends DDR266 but no success.
I've try another PSU x2, still no success.

Now the question is, because I'm using a ATI Radeon VE, AGP 2/4x could this be the problem?

The unit powers on, Cpu running warm, but no Post, no beeps.

This is what ASRock support answered to me about the boot problem:
----
Dear Sir,

We tested this issues, it seems the dirver is not compatible with the Core 2 Duo CPU.

We suggest you to use the Microsoft driver.

Thanks for the email.

Yours truly,

ASRock

Hi everybody!

My first post!
Okay.. I just bought this new motherboard and it should be in my hands in few days ..
I have few questions -

What settings should i change at the bios for starters?(FSB, multiplier?) -
I have MUSHKIN DDR400 (2-3-3-7) memory, and Geforce 6600GT.

How much OC'ing i can expect from this setup? I haven't really done too much oc'ing so i'm little scared changin all multipliers, fsb' stuff

Thanks for advance!

Well first of all you can't change the CPU multiplier with this board.
Second, you didn't mention what CPU you have.

Ups, sorry !

E6400 is my choice
Is it even possible to run this @ full speed with DDR1?

I have had one of these boards for a week now. To be truthful, I wasn't keen on getting a board from a manufacturer that I hadn't any experience with, but on the same token, I didn't want to replace my relatively new X850XT (AGP).

I followed all the instructions to install the SATA drivers on a floppy for installing windows and all was well. I have tried various raid options and installed Windows on one drive using my second as a spare (back-ups etc..)

Problem I am having is that when I switch my PC on in a morning, it can't find either of my SATA drives. I do not have any ATA drives installed. After about 4 or 5 reboots (also enabling and disabling RAID in the bios) it will pick either one up. After another couple of boots it will find the other. The rig is then fine all day. I can switch it on anf off to my hearts content with it finding everything every time. Next day - No SATA again...

Anyone else having this problem? I have tried various combinations of RAM, all work fine. I am not over clocking. My PSU is 600 Watt. I have tried bios upgrades (1.8 and currently 1.9) I have taken all PCI cards out and reseated them. I have removed the chip and reseated it. Same problem every time.

Both my SATA drives are Seagate and are identical.

I have replaced the power connectors and the SATA connectors.

Any help or suggestions please!!!

What card and RAM are you using?

I've got it working stably in Vista RC1, using the Cataylst Vista Beta Drivers. As an experiement, I installed the XP drivers in Vista (its doable, i did it in Beta 2 -- the only thing is the xp drivers don't run Windows Aero desktop theme)...funny thing is...it crashes Vista in the exact same way it crashes Vista (during the boot screens).

Shame because the drivers aren't quite optimised...so i'm getting about 10-20% drop in performance across the board...made up by the fact that my CPU (E6600) is also 10-20% faster. So i'm basically where I am before in upgraded, but then at least i've got a working/stable system for now. I'm holding off getting a new motherboard/RAM/video until the DX10 cards.

Where can I get these microsoft slipstream drivers? they are packaged with Windows XP? Are they fully 3D enabled and on-par performance with the Cataylst drivers?

Radeon 9700Pro. I got X800Pro AGP card from a friend. I'll be testing that soon too.
The memory is Kingston HyperX 1GB Kit DDR 466MHz PC3700 CL3.

I'm sure you mean that they crash XP the same way as Vista.

Unfortunately they were not slipstreamed to the install CD by me, so I don't know the details about them. For 9700 pro, the drivers propably are as good as newer Catalyst drivers.

Update on my situation. Updated BIOS to 1.90, updated VIA drivers to 5.10A and installed Catalyst 5.11. Now everything seems to be working.
Next up: Install the 'new' X800Pro. Fingers crossed

Edit:
X800Pro installed and running ok.

Hey dude. My syetem was running fine on IDE HDD, then I installed Ubuntu on my new Seagate 7200.10 SATAII (jumpered for SATAI), and it wouldn't boot. Couldn't find the MBR on the original IDE HDD. In BIOS I just changed the drive order to lower the SATA drive below IDE in priority, now I'm golden. Not sure if that'll help you, but try reversing the order of your drives.

Bah... now I need help.

Previously was running 1x1gb DDR400 just fine. Based on seeing some affirmations that OCZ Gold DDR2-800 XTC 6400 worked fine with this board, picked up a 2x1gb kit for use with this board. It will not post.

I asked someone on here via PM who reported to have this combination working fine what the setup in BIOS was, he/ she said it was just default. I restored defaults-- still wouldn't post. Cleared CMOS by removing battery-- still wouldn't post. Raised voltage level to "high"-- still wouldn't post. Changed compatibility mode to "enabled"-- still wouldn't post.

I did try removing one of the sticks, and with mem voltage at high it powered on, but didn't get past hardware detection stage to post.

Anyone have any other ideas/ ways to get this working?

Back to old DDR.

Thanks.
