Angelo i would deffinetly flash the bios due to major improvments in your system you would be a fool not to . My board came with a 1.60 bios and i still updated to 1.90.
On an ambient day of 24 c my cpu runs at 41c idle and that is with the cpu Overcloacked to 2321.77 .
My specs are

Asrock 775dual-vsta
Core 2 e6400 @2321.77
Generic 1 gig DDR400 Ram
160GB IDE HDD
200GB IDE HDD
Leadtek 6800XT OC vid card

Well i went ahead and bought a stick of the 1GB G.Skill 5400 DDR2 667 RAM (F2-5400PHU1-1GBLA) and luckily it booted up just fine! I am using the 1.90 BIOS. The only manual adjustment I made was to set the RAM to 667 (Booted up as 533). All the other settings are on Auto.

On another note, ever since flashing to the 1.90 BIOS, i seem to be having some odd issue with my CD/DVD rom drives. They will read CD's fine, but if i try to play a video they seem to hang up. Making things stranger is the fact that i can copy files from the CD's just fine. I tried copying the video file to the HD and it played just fine. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Could a Faulty PSU cause the computer not to post?
Everthing seems fine, but no POST. Videocard runing (fan), board and cpu warm... tried with DDR, DDR2....

But still no post, new board from RMA...

What can be the reason?

maybe 128 mb.

I'm using a Sapphire X300se PCIe in it right now that I had laying around, I was apprehensive using it because of the list at Asrock's site but it is working fine.

Please Help!!

I've tried so many times, to boot the computer, but never post. Could it be my CPU fry? It's brand new out of the box...

Also, let me add something weird, when I turn the switch on the PSU, the whole computer power on, without touching the power button on the case, and after turning on, the power button in front doesn't want to turn off the computer. I had to switch it off with the PSU switch.

Any clues?

im not trying CS:S yet, but i will try it (default setting right?) and post the result later.
right now there are too many works to do.....

now im only using 512mb RAM. thinking about buying new cheap DDR2 1x2GB, but the price so high right now.... better wait until next year.

512MB is very bottlenecking my system........ it seems playing BF2 got better FPS with Barton 2500@3200 with 768MB RAM than E6300 with 512mb RAM.

but when i playing WC3 : TFT single player + 5 comp vs 6 comp on a large map, my barton very2 lag like slide show (<10 FPS), but with this allendale i only got very little lag (only 1-2 times maybe get 20-25 FPS for few seconds). maybe because not enough memory.

@Kruiser

yupe, i think i will flash this bios to 1.90....
just worried a bit about flashing ..... it's safe flash from DOS or Windows? because i already download all of them.

thx

As long as your system is stable flashing should be fine... I was having problems (stability in games only with my DDR2 Ram) and flashed from Windows XP. No Problems... after some tweaking my system is now, finally stable... and considerably faster than my old Barton 3000+! Good luck.....

Kruiser, What fsb, memory ratio settings you are using? - Did you have to tweak bios alot when you first started the system... I'm really newb with bios and my ASrock and E6400 is coming soon and im pairing it with DDR1.. Would be nice to know what i have to tweak @ bios when i first start the system

Wildi i was sitting on a bios of 1.60 and i could not get above fsb of 280 but as soon as i updated my bios to 1.90 i nudged my fsb upto 290 and i recon i could go more but im happy with that. i have two 120 mm fans one pushing one sucking and another 30 mm fan on low setting giving the cpu extra cooling. On an ambient night here in Australia of 22c the cpu is sitting on 39c both cores, i will probably get some DDR2 ram when i get some more money. i love this cpu im glad i did not get a e6600 which would've cost me 200$au Extra

Is the new E4300 going to work in this board ? (Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA) I'm thinking 800 fsb, 2 MB L2, 1.8 GHz, might be an OCing' monster. Sounds like a E6600 with 1/2 the L2 cache. I don't want to mess with the vcore, what's the vcore on the 6xxx series ? Would the board need another BIOS update ? As I said, I don't want to change the stock vcore, but a person's got to do what a person's got to do. (even if it means a new MB) I can only get 3.40 GHz out of my PD 805, stock vcore. (1.216v, CPUZ, Sisoft Sandra, Everest, PC Wizard)

Well, my old rig had a 6800GT clocked at 400 and 950Mhz... then I got the 7800GS.... didnt expect that much of a difference and really only wanted it for Oblivion.... I was quite nicely surprised.... Good card and I recommend it. Overclockers has the 7800GS+ at cheaper than 7800GS at the moment. Nice!

On another note.... What should I do to overlock this a bit now... just up the FSB to say 290 and see? Or do I need to make other changes at the same time... what will happen with the memory divider?

When is the E4300 going to be released?

Things for you to recheck.
Is the CPU fan installed correctly, is it touching the CPU and have you thermal pasted it?

Are your PSU power cables put into you motherboard correctly the 20 pins and the 4 pins ones?

Have you put in the chassis front panel cables the correct way? Positive to positive and so on?

I don?t know why it?s not working with DDR2 800 Ram as some are getting it to work just fine.

Another review with DDR2 800.

According to a few web sites I have surfed the E4300 will be availiable in Q1 of next year. Evidently Intel had intended to release a E4200, 1.6 GHz core 2 duo in 4Q this year, but couldn't get it to out do the AMD's x2 3600 quite enough so they redid their timeline and decided to up the E4200 1.6 GHz to a E4300 1.8 GHz and delay the release until 1Q next year.

Has anyone heard if the Asrock 775Dual-VSTA board is going to work with a Kentsfield CPU?

So far, I've only seen reports of Intel 965/975 chipsets supporting it and the 965 boards might be a new revision at that.

ANGELo - BF2 is very RAM dependent !! with my E6300@2.22 and 2gig DDR pc3200 it flies ! however back when I only had 1gig of ram loading times were considerably longer and now I get over 100FPS on some maps (med settings - 7800GS@450/1300)

BF2142 demo is out today

I flashed my BOIS each time with windows no problems
