There are actually 2 "PCI Standard PCI-to-PCI Bridge"'s listed in device manager, but you can only update 1 of them, which is the one you want.

hey thanks StephenMSmith !!

I will try your tip at soon I arrive home later. will report then...

thanks for you help!

I´m back well finally I try it and it works! BUT I have to install the driver in the "VIA AGP Controler" instead of the PCI bridge that you point me... now I see the AGP 3.0 at system! thanks!

now my last "problem" for now my "EVGA 7800GS CO" AGP didn´t change "automatic" anymore from "2D mode" (speed 275-1200) and "3D mode" (430-1300) this starts to happen when I change the mother... I have to force each status with Rivatuner (or AtiTool). Before when I enter a game the card switch to 3D mode and the when I was at desktop switch back to 2d mode (less speed, less fan speed) but now is not like that. Is always at 2d or 3d mode and I have to manual select each one... :-( I try reinstalling all... maybe is something in the bios setup that I have to change? I saw some strange settings for AGP there and I left them in AUTO.

any help will be very appreciated!

Are you sure your 7800GS automatically changed speeds between 2D and 3D? I have an EVGA 6800GS CO and don't recall that ever being the case for my card. I have to manually achieve this with RivaTuner (same with fan speed control). I doubt there is a bios setting that would affect this. Let us know if you have a website link that documents this.

No difference, the MS driver is just as fast, so long as we're talking about the Microsoft Universal AGP driver named UAGP35.sys and not a generic PCI bridge driver.

Pursuant to the MS UAGP initiative, VIA discontinued development of the AGP driver years ago. The MS UAGP driver has supplanted it since the release of SP2. That's why VIA hasn't updated their 2000/XP/2003 AGP driver since 2003 (except for 98/ME).

The MS UAGP driver for AMD64 K8/K9 is named gagp30kx.sys.

Thanks for reply me!!

Yes. 7800GS change automatically 2d/3d (have to). I finally fix it !

This is the thing I did:

1. I quit AtiTool 0.26 from my system
2. I quit RivaTuner from the system
3. using driver cleaner pro under "safe mode" I quit the nvdia drivers (91.92)
4. I reinstall driver+atitool+rivatuner (reboot) and now 2d / 3d modes are back and in perfect function...

sure something I change in a wrong way on those programs and the 2d/3d start to function incorrectly...

hope this will help to others with similar problems...

thanks again for reading

Thanks. According to Google translation, this BIOS has been modded to:

With the Bios it concerns a Betabios 2.60 official of ASRock on basis. In the Bios speed-quilts and Thermal Throttling should again to function. Likewise the old automatic controller action of the exhaust price increase was repaired. Attention, perhaps thereby it can come to the overheating of the Northbridge.

which I think means:

1) speed step option restored on cpu page
2) thermal throttling option restored on cpu page
3) CPUQuiet functionality is fixed (ie. restored back to when it actually worked)?

Well, if you don't update the default MS driver w/the VIA AGP driver you won't get any AGP transfers at all...

Whoops, ignore that last message then. I did know about this, but XP does not present this as an option to select for the PCI Standard Bridge item in device manager. I do see that this driver is being loaded via Non Plug&Play Drivers.

How exactly do you use this MS UAGP driver instead of the VIA one? If I change the "VIA CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller" back to "PCI Standard PCI-to-PCI Bridge", then I lose AGP transfers alltogether.

Unless I am missing something, the AGP driver is loaded by the "VIA CPU to AGP Controller Device". This is the device
which is using the UAGP35.sys driver in my system. I have opted not to use the VIA driver since my AGP appears to be
fully functional.

S3 standby works in BIOS 2.40c

Per previous post, an AsRock tech sent me BIOS 2.4c when I asked about making Standby work. I just upgraded to the Sapphire 1900 GT, reverted back to the 2.40c BIOS and now standby works just fine. I guess you have to contact AsRock to request this version?

BTW - whoever is keeping the list of compatable cards, this Sapphire ATI X1900 GT seems to be working just fine. A little slow for gaming I think (3DMark06 of 4339) but I haven't tried overclocking and don't do any gaming these days.

Feel free to PM me with questions.

I think the confusion is this -- I had to manually update the Standard PCI bridge w/the VIA AGP driver in order for it to be reclassified as "VIA CPU to AGP Controller Device" in the System devices. AFAIK, "VIA CPU to AGP Controller Device" is the VIA AGP driver, which may or may not get automatically installed when you run the 4-in-1 package. Without it, no AGP transfers at all.

I succeeded to volt mod the board for the core voltage!
All I used is a 100K miniature potentiometer. The new default voltage with maximum value is ~60 mV higher than before, and can be adjusted till ~1.8V (did not try this, is by measurements of protection threshold on the supply controller).

This way I succeed to make my D820 run flat @ 3.6GHz, no crash in any test or game for several hours (I added only minimum = 60mV)

If somebody interested shall teach me how to post pictures!

There are a few image hosting websites around that you can upload your pictures to and then post the links on your reply in this thread.

Please post pictures.

I will try to find a better image of the area, this is just a hint. It is tested on 775 dual vsta, for sure does not work on 775 dual 880 pro because of different Vcore Power Supply. 4coreDual vsta looks the same as 775 dual vsta but I do not have any for checking.

CAUTION: This is a risky hardware mod, and guarantee of the board is lost by soldering on. If you proceed, you are doing the mod on your own risk, I can not be made responsible for any consequences of it or mistake in pictures and/or description.

The 100K is connected between the 2 points marked with red lines, and placed on the L6714 IC (somehow were the lines end). Both connection points are from not assembled components. For checking, point 1 should be connected with pins 21&22 (DROOP and FB in the image bellow) of L6714, pin 2 shall be connected to GND or case.
http://img53.imageshack.us/my.php?image=l6714hz6.jpg]
[/URL]

What could be important:

Never short the VR, check with ohmmeter that the pins used are the ones with maximum resistance !!! When adjusting move slowly to avoid voltage jumps !!!

1. Try to keep connection 1 as short as possible
2. Connection 2 is a GND point, but I think the one I pinpointed is less risky as possible noises.
3. Avoid big VR and long wires, it is a risk to make core voltage very noisy
4. It would be better to connect a Voltmeter in position to measure Vcore when first supplied such as to be able to immediately disconnect mains if too high voltage.
5. This is not tested, is by operation description of the power controller: If too high voltage will be set (> ~1.8V), the core supply will immediately shut down. If so, turn of the PC by disconnecting mains, adjust the VR to higher value (so lower voltage) and connect again.
6. When trimming the VR avoid touching with your hand anything connected to wire 1, the supply may loose regulation!
7. Before soldering disconnect PC from main, better the monitor too, and touch briefly with the tip of the soldering iron a metal part of the case to avoid static charges. If you notice sparks touch again and DO NOT SOLDER if the sparks do not disappear.

Looks like a volt mod for the core, unless I'm reading it wrong.

Hmmm, the only thing I notice in there that might be a little unusual are:

1) Boot Failure - Disabled

Could this really affect FSB limits? And what happens if it turns out you can't do 320FSB and boot failure is not enabled? You have to clear CMOS via jumper?

2) Intel Virtuali. - Disabled

3) PCI delay Transaction - Disable <--- if anable Audigy wont work

Could this affect overclocking? I have no problems w/my Audigy2ZA when this is enabled, btw.

Guys, i need help badly !!

I bought today a 775Dual-VSTA, and I'm using it with my 7800 GS AGP and a SATA 160GB HD. For some reason, everything works fine til I install my graphic card drivers. Then, from time to time my comp restarts without giving any error

My bios version is 1.30 i think. Is there any way to make my 7800 GS work with this mainboard? My CPU is a E6600 Core 2 Duo.

I'm so frustrated, Ive been all the night trying to fix this, but haven't been able to

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

PD: Sorry if my english hasn't been perfect
