The new bios has probably changed your default setting from 266 to 255 FSB

Just increase the FSB to the desired speed; you could probably get up to 2.7 MHz with no mods.

Actually, I think this is a known problem where if the cpu frequency is set to "Auto" it runs the FSB at 256 instead of 266. Just get it out of auto and manually set it to 266 and you'll be fine.

The modded bios should offer that, there are a few versions now 2.9A & 2.9D, anyone know the difference between these bioses?

Well, the Babelfish translation says something about the Northbridge possibly overheating in 2.9D.

"Likewise the old automatic controller action of the exhaust price increase was repaired. Attention, sometimes thereby it can come to the overheating of the Northbridge."

Exhaust price increase?

Any one who has Over busd their e4300 on this boad past 283 mhz I would really appericate If you could tell me what veriosn of bios, ram timmings, and settings that helped you acheive it.

I read the post and few replies about this ASRock 775Dual-VSTA and an E6850.
Anyone tried it yet, or can confirm?
I am looking to get this asrock board and an E6850 chip, to use as a stepping stone to keep my DDR ram and ATI X800XT All-In-Wonder (AGP).
Just wanted to see if anyone had that combo working, without trouble.
Thanks.

Where have you read that the 775Dual-VSTA board supports/works with a 1333FSB CPU?
No 1333FSB CPU is supported in the processor chart.

I encountered some ram related problems after I upgraded from bios 1.6 (or may be 1.7) to 2.7. I get a lot of random reboots after the upgrade and sometimes the system doesn't boot up. Enabling the flexibility option stopped the random reboots. I have 2 x 1gb of Crucial Rendition PC-5300. Before the upgrade, they ran fine at 667mhz and memtest showed no problem. Now they run at around 400mhz according to CPU-Z. I tried 2.9 as well. Boots up every time but no luck getting into WinXp. Again, flexibility option solved the problem.

Does this sound like a bios problem or something is wrong with my ram/mobo?? (Or may be power supply??)

Thanks for the help.

A 1066MHz (or overclockable 800MHz) C2D model wouldn't serve your needs as a 'stepping stone'? The 775Dual-VSTA doesn't support 1333MHz FSB, but there is no reason that a 1333MHz processor could not be run at 1066MHz...as long as the BIOS has the minimum support required for the processor.

The E6850's G0 stepping requires a new microcode update. ASRock boards that support G0 stepping appear to receive both M0 and G0 microcodes in the same BIOS update, which ASRock describes as "6FD/A1" or "M016FDA1", depending on the model. AFAIK, the 775Dual-VSTA BIOS has not included this microcode, although it should because this also covers the M0 stepping of available or scheduled models like the E2180, E4500, and E4600, all of which are 800MHz FSB Allendales which the 775Dual-VSTA should support (when the BIOS is released).

So keep an eye out for any BIOS updates to the 775Dual-VSTA in the next few weeks. There should be a new BIOS released to support M0 stepping parts and it may also include the G0 microcodes as well (or not).

Someone may release a modded BIOS that includes these microcodes, given the active BIOS modding that has taken place thus far.

I just installed a MSI 8800 GTS 640 MB yesterday without difficulty in Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Actually, I came to this thread just to post this as an FYI and saw your post.

1. Uninstall existing video card drivers
2. Power off machine
3. Swap video cards
4. Power on machine
5. Install latest video card drivers
6. Reboot
7. Enjoy

When I got to step 4, Vista installed a generic VGA driver which had me a bit worried. But, after I installed the latest NVIDIA drivers and restarted, I had hardware acceleration and Aero once again.

Any of you running stable at stock with an E6400 and DDR400 with this board? I cant pass Prime95 using stock settings. And I've tested using 3 different sticks of ram. If I underclock the FSB to 261 then I can pass it. If I bump the FSB back to 266 stock, and lower the ram speed to DDR333, I can pass it as well. Anyone else having similar issues, or any clue on what the issue might be? I have latest BIOS

anyone else have trouble booting with ddr2?
I have a Crucial 1gb ddr2 667 and it won't boot into Windows.. it POSTs then either has a blinking cursor or a black screen.
I've tried a different slot, stripped down all the hardware, and pretty much all the BIOS settings.
Even with flexibility enabled, 533mhz, 5-5-5-15, maxing out every ram timing, voltage high, it still does doesn't boot or just freezes.

I know it's the ram because i'm using some old 256mb ddr at 166mhz and it will boot Windows, floppy, usb, etc perfectly. I've ordered more ddr2, but i'm afraid they'll be sending me the same Samsung chips

help?

Set your Mem voltage to High (that's the highest, if I remember correctly).

If this RAM requires voltage higher than 2.0V, you might be out of luck. Look for RAM rated at max. 1.9V for this MB.

If you can, run Memtest in DOS.

Looks like a bad stick, or too high voltage requirements.

yep.. I did set it to high, even though Crucial says 1.8v
and BIOS is 2.90 (newest)
I can't even get far enough to run memtest.

maybe because it's high density or something? (128x64, 8 chips on each side)
oh well.. I'm going to try to get some other ram
