Bios 2.40

Damn.
They just had to mess something that worked great, while they fixed the usb-problem(hopefully).

1. There is no more EIST setting in bios! (enhanced intel Speedstep)
Previously I used RMClock to change the overvoltage ~1.3V, which this MB gives to my CPU, to 1.136V, which is slight undervolting, but these C2D:s works great with lower voltages(and that lowered temp by 5°C also).
I also used "performance on demand" so that while idling the CPU used ratio 6 (1600MHz), to save some energy.
So, no more all that with this bios. RMClock doesn´t work if EIST isn´t enabled, and when there is no way to enable it, what can you do...

2. Computer booted using 256MHz FSB, so the whole system is underclocked. I have to check that out. Probably all that needs to be done, is set the FSB manually to 266MHz. But why is it 256MHz by default in the first place?

ps. I loaded "optimal defaults" and so on...

My Board is rock solid even with some overclocking.
It only crashes if I push it to the max.

only if i try to get over 300fsb, then my mobo crash but haven`t gotten a blue schreen crash or the likes with 2.10 at 296 fsb. Good boards vs the cost but i still can`t wait to get over 400 on the fsb grrr .

dude get a good mobo if u even gonna think about getting a better pci-e. i got the same gfx as u and u need 79502x and up to even see big diffrences in games and for that u need a cpu that can runn at 100 % and not just 80 % which it does on the VSTA.

Problem is that new mobo+DDR2's costs as much as Hi-end graphic card, so why not buy it first(?)

Of course i'm plan to buy some other mobo someday, and then i can oc 6600 too.

I just can't stand present situation, 3d'05 is sooo close to 10k(9820-40), but it seems that i cannot reach it, very frustrating

Heh, i sent asrock an email bugging them about the fanspeed control, here's the answer:

Dear Sir,

For safety, we do not recommend to run CPU fan to run at lowest speed.
Not only COU but other parts need heat tranfer.
Please use P2.40 BIOS.

BR,

ASRock

oh, well.. speedfan works nicely

Well just buy some ram first and use em on the asrock then wait and take the mobo and gfx in the last run. I did ram cpu and temp mobo in the first run. And as of 3dmark 05 then u can oc that gfx to 620 and up just make sure that your airflow are at max. My gfx caps at 72 C at 635 , but offcause it`s only for bench purposes that i use 635, I normally use 600-620 wich is 63 C.

if you update to 2.40 bios ,do remember to load optimal defaults..
i didnt and i was getiing random crashes..(no overclocs)
i calibrate the memory settings at slowest and still i was getting crashes..
i run sandra and vuala cpu votage on my alentalle 6300- 1,5v!!!!!!!!!!(it worked 4 one day and didnt die )
after loading defaults the value change to 1,26v..
and with the default memory settings and only changing to 400hz +pipeline enable.
i m getting 4440 at sandras memory bandwinth and a stable system..(ddr3200 value kingston 2x512)

ps. no working 8800gts/gtx with this mobo found on net, only the opossite ..
asrock is replying to them that via chipset cant work with 8800series..
isnt some of the gpu voltage in those 12 missing lines in pcie? maybe thats the prob..

2. Kingmax ddr 533 will be an issue?
3. What version of this motherboard i need to look for? like a rev 1 2 ...
4. What stepping A/B i need to look for in the cpu?

When I flashed the Bios to 2.40 I could not start up the computer. It could only find my cd rom drive, and I had to enable RAID (Which I have never used) before it started working again......

I am not sure if the USB is working better, but my internal memory card reader, and the 5 drives it represents E,F,G,H,I has dissapeared, so USB may work better, but it seems like everytime time something starts working something else crashes...

1 ATI x800xl agp will be an issue? = I?m using the ATI XT850PE with no issues.

2 Kingmax ddr 533 will be an issue? = I have used the Kingmax Hardcore DDR Ram no issues.

3 What version of this motherboard I need to look for? Like a rev 1 2 ... = Only Rev 1 that I know of (Rev 2 would have to be this one but it seems like it?s only available in China for now!)
This one uses the Ultra chipset and is the latest= support for the 4core CPU etc.

4. How loud is the stock fan? = It?s ok IMO.

Im currently looking to upgrade to this board after christmas, wanna list it all here so someone can double check everything, and give me the all clear

Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86ghz
ASRock 775DUAL-VSTA
Arctic Cooling (AC-FRZ-7P) Freezer 7 Pro
x2 512mb Cruial VALUE PC2700
ATi Radeon 9800Non-Pro (AGP) (Artic Cooling Fan Installed)
480W ThermalTake PurePower
x2 120gb IDE hard drives

(Bold = Upgrades)

Worried about the board not liking the memory or problems with IDE drives, on a budget of £200 and cant really afford to splash out on sata harddrives or new memory

Everything ok there?

Have decided to follow in your footsteps and go for a h/w volt mod. (Thought that by now, Asrock might have enabled a volt mod in the bios, but have given up waiting...)

I am using a D805, and checked the Intel site for the def voltage (shown as 1.25V-1.4V). Armed with this I popped over to your referenced site, but am unsure which pin mod you followed for you D805. Would you be so kind as to point me to the right one. My guess is, it's the one that starts at "1.25 defaulters", but don't wish to get it wrong!

Thanks in advance,

Haricot

Currently OC'ed to a paulty 156*20 (3120) D805 / GEIL 6400-800mhz / AGP / 1xsata/1xDIE/1xDVD.

Voltage (under Max. load) down < 1.20 - That can't be good

You first need to use the CPU rightmark program to find your default voltage before you can proceed.
Download it from here http://cpu.rightmark.org//download/rmclock_215_bin.exe

Let me know what it says in the STARTUP column, as that will be your default voltage.

Thanks for the reply Mr Vain.

I had spotted a reply of yours in a different forum answering this question, and downloaded CPU RIghtMark. It gave me a STARTUP Voltage of 1.337. Armed with this I am guessing I need The mod for 1.335v defaulters (http://sg.vr-zone.com/index.php?i=3931&s=8) Is that correct?

BTW: What was your initial STARTUP voltage setting? It seems that the successful overclocking of the D805 is partially linked to it's initial factory voltage (Lower is better ??? ) I doubt very much if I will be able to replicate your efforts as at stock I am unable to even get above an FSB of 156 (stable) and if I remember rightly you were easily hitting 166 with no mods to board or chip.

Thanks again for the reply,

Haricot

just a note.
after trying 1.5 ,2.40,2.10,1.90,1.80 , the stablest and fastest bios for ddr3200 is 1.8 by far.

when i use 2.40 even if tests were stable, after playing css for 1h (no prob in other games like oblivion)i get a not fynny vpu error..(ax800pro) -all this after i post here saying it was good

-i got a bit trigger hapy then and flash to 1.5 but no pipeline option was there.. then i flash to 1.8 i load default ,then i enable the pipeline+400hz all the rest in defalut..(2 /512 3cl cheap value kingston 3200 on an 6300c2d)
mem test were ok ..then super pi1,5 was 1.16min at 2megs(best i had, last best was 1.18).
and sandra mem bench gave me a 4520/4508!!!
after melting my eyes in css +oblivion i get no errors at all.(no overclocks)
