Hey new here. Looking for some help.
My system:
ASRock 775Dual-VSTA LGA 775 VIA PT880
Intel Pentium D 945 Presler 3.4GHz 2 x 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor
Thermaltake CL-P0370 92mm CPU Cooler
Kingston HyperX 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 x 2
2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3400620A 400GB 7200 RPM 16MB IDE ATA100
HIS Hightech Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 8X IceQ3 Turbo
PCI Dlink 2320 Wireless adapter
IDE NEC DVD 3520a
Heres my issue. I download all the newest drivers for this board from VIA and realtek. Newest bios is in board 2.50. I'm not even trying to overclock this board as of yet. I have set the bios to DDR400 and raid off. My system works perfect on install of vista, I install VIA drivers, realtek drivers, dlink drivers, system still works fine. I then install the ATI drivers and system locks up on random at first then it will eventually get so bad i cant even get back into vista unless going thru safe mode. After reading thru these posts the only thing I'm thinking I might have missed is when installing the VIA Hyperion drivers I dont think it installed the latest AGP driver. Do i need to install this manually? I thought I had a bad board so I sent it back and got a new one, same issue, have also tried another ATI card. Then I decided to do a fresh install of Windows XP Pro, everything works perfect and system runs great! I really want to run Vista with this setup, is there anything I'm missing when installing Vista drivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
