Prolly due to lax ram timings. I suggest you run it at a slower clock but tighter timings like I've posted.

hmmm but I run already at the tightest timings I think ... I thought maybe I try going back to 290FSB because it might be a different ratio but decrease in performance:

What memory ratio do u have pengo ? I assume it would be same but could be something to check

Does anyone know what the memory ratios change to as the FSB goes higher than 310 ? Maybe there's a nice ratio at a higher FSB where things run sweet again ??

New 2.60 BIOS is out! Anyone know if the Quiet fan control works in this version? I'm fed up of flashing my BIOS to the newer versions in the hope that it will work, then having to backflash to BIOS 2.10 again

I gave up on ever getting QuietFan back and installed a Zalman fan-mate instead.

You can use the 4Core Dual-VSTA 1.4A Modded Bios with quiet fan function and 4core Kentsfield CPU support.
Try it at your own risk.

Just posting my scores since i installed my Leadtek PX7800GTX Extreme -vivo. Pci-e card
Only posting them to give you some idea how the pci-e 4x fairs as i dont bother much with 3D marks.

3D Mark 2006...5043......1152x864
3D Mark 2005...8592......1024x768
Left settings at Default..

So it seems the 4x pci-e slot works ok !
My pc specs..
E6400 running @ 290Mhz
2x512 PC3200 ram @400mhz

Well, the scores, if the damn 16x mode would work, would be much better!!! Damn ASSrock
Second thing is that somebody should make some modded bios for this board because ASSrock prpbably will not let us change Vcore and the Vdimm and Vchipset voltage changing system will never chnge ... ( $%^&%$&&%&#$&%$&$ !!!!!!!!!! ).

Btw, any info about the mistic registry modification they made in this BIOS release??? Any other bugfixes, updates?

Mr. Vain!!

Witch version??? There are several ...

Mr. Vain!!

Witch version??? There are several ...

1 CPU Pin mod will fix the Vcore.
2 MOBO Pencil resistor to fix chipset voltage.

Found this out in another forum.
Quote.
Bios 2.6A
3 A new option in Chipset, it's "Echo TPR Disable" and the options are Disable/AUTO. What is it used for?

This was taken from a link about the Xeon

Systems with Echo TPR Disable (R/W) bit (bit [23] of IA32_MISC_ENABLE register) set to '0' (default), where xTPR messages are being transmitted on the system bus to the processor, may experience a system hang during voltage transitions caused by the power management events.

Implication:
This may cause a system hang during voltage transitions of power
management events.

Workaround:
It is possible for the BIOS to contain a workaround for this erratum. The BIOS workaround disables the Echo TPR updates on affected steppings.

Had an Barton@2400 and NF7-S before. Oblivion is always playable now(@1024x768), even at the oblivion gate scene, which was more like a slideshow with the AthlonXP system. So AGP is not dead yet

Want i don't like: Only 2 SATA ports.
I will wait for the x1950pro(october) or DX10 cards, then i will switch to PCI-E and maybe upgrade the board as well.

I expected problems with such a cheap board, but so far everything is ok

Edit: 295FSB will hang on bootup, so 292 is the highest stable FSB for me. Using the 1.5 bios.

How did the upgrade to the x1950 go? I tried to switch from my ATI x700 pro AGP to a Sapphire X600XT PCI-e and ran smack into problems with VPU crashes. Wondering if you (or anybody else out there) has made ATI products work in the PCI-E slot.

I'm running a x1950xt pci-e right now on this board with no mb-related problems.

No overclocking, but mine works at stock speeds just fine. No problems with memtest either.

Mmmm, nice to see Speedstep and No-Execution options back again :>

Well, but is there tehnicly possible to add, for example. Logos and such a things in Boot-up fhaze, laike it is in ASUS mobos. There is some Video-card Logos, eitch could bee added in mobos startup, but there is no options to do that :>

Antway modded BIOS works fine, only users should Power-off mobo and then turn it on again, no just oress "Restart" button.

i tried flashing the 2.60a bios, but when using the dos flasher, it says that the file is not the right size even though it is the same size as the official bios. I used a boot floppy created by Windows XP format command. Is there some other flasher I am supposed to use?

I flashed the 2.6 under Windows (as I always do) and everything was fine. Only one has not to forget to load defaults before anything else.

Is anyone's startup time taking considerably longer after flashing to 2.6? It takes much longer to hand off to the boot loader now; on the order of 15-20 seconds or so.

I've tried clearing the bios via jumper and it continues to occur.

Also, I'm going to purchase a 2x1GB kit of DDR-II fairly soon. I'm currently using 2x512 MB DDR-I. Even though this board only supports DDR-II 667 does it make sense to go with DDR-II 800 for a more future-proof investment?

Does C2D and this motherboard in particular prefer tight timings or does it really matter?

I've only built/overclocked AMD Socket A in the past...& I just built a system with this board. I have read through all the posts here & do not undertand the FSB/Memory Divider thing.

I installed a 3.0 Ghz Pentinum & AGP Card ...set the FSB to 233 & the (2 sticks Geil 3500 DDR) memory to 200. It booted up fine at 3500 mhz ...but, after checking Everest (newest version) ....the memory divider ration is 6/8. Seems I read somewhere it's better to run at 1:1 or 1:2.

Flexibility is turned off & setting CPU to Asych or Sych ...doen't matter using the above settings.

Could someone explain pleeeaasse.

I'm having the same problem I recall someone else posting about before I bought this board -- none of the fans (cpu, case, etc) turn off. Everything else does, but it seems the BIOS isn't notifying the power supply of a standby or something? Does S3 work for anyone?

Has this issue died? or been fixed and I can't find it?

If its still alive my answer is ALMOST.

I asked ASRock tech support about suspend on their boards and got a reply with an attached 2.40c BIOS the tech support guy asked me to try.
1) Does not work with my AGP ATI X700 Pro. It blanks the screen, fans & disks running, and will not respond to anything. For you old timers its a big red paddle reset situation. Goes in & out of hibernation just fine.
2) Tried it with my PCI-E Sapphire X600 XT, and it seems to work. I can't be sure if I have a compatibility problem somewhere or a bad card. With no drivers installed it goes in and out of standby just fine, just in that godawfully slow default VGA mode. With latest catalysts (7.1 & 7.2) it works great on a fresh install until you let it go into standby. Then about 1/10 the time you get a graphical corruption/freeze coming out of standby. If it doesn't freeze there, invariably I get a VPU error that restarts in VGA within a few minutes. Takes about 3 reboots before it runs for hours without a VPU. Tried earlier catalysts that are supposed to work for other x600XT (6.3, 5.8). Also tried running with just the drivers & no CCC. Similar pattern. Instead of VPU error messages I'd just get freeze/restart in VGA and a few more BSODs. Updated to most recent VIA drivers, did most of this again with similar pattern. What's really weird is I swear it seems like everything would run fine until the first time it went into standby or hibernate. It was like that corrupted something. Shipping the card off to a friend to rule out hardware problems. Sent reply back to ASRock that I can't make it work.

So like I said, almost had S3 working, just need to rule out bad card. Happy to post this 2.40c (DOS only) if anybody wants to check it out. Anybody gotta a spare PCI-E card I can borrow to test?

Now with DDR2's i've been able to rise functional fsb to 295-297(earlier with DDR400, 290 was reasonable limit). Divider is 1:1, my GSkill 800's works now at ~599Mhz(533-setting) with 4-4-4-10 and 1T+Dual channel.

I still use 2.40 bios, do you people think that 2.60 is clearly better?

Sandra gives now around 5850-5900 from bandwidth, Aquamark3 gave nice 126.090p(my record).
