Erhm, sorry, what i have is a 4CoreDual-VSTA , not a 775Dual...

There is only a 1.6 bios out there, do you think updating my 1.3 would fix the problem?

Yes. Had problems with the old x600XT PCI, and with son's X700XT AGP. Finally broke down and bought a modern card. Got it running, and decided to retry the 2.40c BIOS AsRock sent and poof, the darn thing has been running fine for a week. Goes in and out of standby (S3) no problem, hibernate no problem. Now, if somebody can tell me how to get it to ya, I'd be happy to...

2 Problems Solved on:


1) Long Post after Bios Upgrade: Clear your computer CMOS after upgrade. (Instructions on ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Manual)

I use 2 pin jumper taken from HD or DVD Drive.
Shut off computer and unplug power cord (wait 15 seconds and replug).
Set in the 2 pin Jumper just below the CMOS Battery.
Turn on the computer and wait for 5 seconds then turn off computer and remove pin, then reboot again. Voila!

2) Linux Yellow Message: Go to Bios setting under IDE configuration and disable RAID

Looks like a volt mod for the core, unless I'm reading it wrong.

I hear you man, but that should not help FSB with this CPU as it can hit 3.2 GHz with stock voltage.

Okay, the stock voltage of this cpu (according to my retail box) is 1.35v. The Asrock runs ~1.28v at default (not sure what other mobos do). In reading that review @ Neoseeker, they don't ever say what the actual voltage they are running at beyond "stock." Do they mean the cpu's stock voltage of 1.35, or the motherboard's stock voltage (which may be less than 1.35). Since the Asrock undervolts, I'm not as confident that we could run the E4300 @ 3.2Ghz with Asrock's default of 1.28v. So maybe at 1.35v it could run @ 3.2Ghz...

Also, I was confused by that screenshot Neoseeker showed running @ 3.7Ghz. They say they were running at 1.7v but the screenshot shows 1.213v??

Has anyone be able to get the acpi to work with this board on winxp? it works just fine on linux but i can't get it to lower the cpu frequency and vcore when i'm just browsing or not doing anything demanding. (e6400, Windows XP SP2, via hyperionpro v5.11a)

HELP PLEASE.

Is this the BIOS I should be using and if so how do I install it please. I've downloaded it and used AFUWIN from ASROCKS 2.60 BIOS to install it, However speed fan still doesn't work the fan runs flat out all the time were with 2.10 speedfan worked.

On POST My BIOS Is showing 2.60 but not 2.60A have it got the right one???? I downloaded it from the linkk below .I'm sure I read somewhere that speed fan worked with this BIOS ???

Any Ideas Please???

Your talking about Speedstep, not ACPI. For reasons unknown, the option to enable/disable SpeedStep disappeared a few BIOS releases ago. But... look above for message about 2.6A BIOS, someone has modded the current 2.6 BIOS to restore this option.

Thanks, didn't know the right name. But why does winxp need this option when it works on linux (ubuntu)? isn't there any hotfix for this (w/o updating for the 2.6a bios)?

Are you sure it really works in Linux?? I think this cpu feature is entirely disabled by the BIOS and can't be re-enabled via the OS.

Yes, i'm pretty sure of that.

Vcore 1.12v-1.14v and freq 1596MHz, while browsing or any other less intensive task (the core temp also decreases as expected). Vcore 1.26v-1.28v and freq 2128MHz, while decoding multiple HD video streams or anything demanding.

Hi people I'm new to this forum and made a new topic by accident.

After reading (most) of this 67 page topic I thought someone could help me...

I just built a new system from ebuyer and used the 775dual-vsta and ebuyer ram:

After running memtest I got many errors and assumed dud ram...
So I have had the ram replaced and got the same errors again. I am now on my 3rd return of ram which I installed very carefully with anti static straps etc and still the same errors!
I read on the ebuyer reviews that someone else had trouble with ddr2 ram and this mobo and am asking if anyone (i think on page 4) fixed this issue.
I stuck in 2x512 normal ddr400 and it ran memtest overnight without errors.
I have upgraded from bios 1.5 to bios 2.6
I also tried the other ddr2 slot with the same results- am I doomed to downgrade to ddr or should i replace the mobo?
Any help would be appreciated!

UPDATE:
I have tried:
manually setting the ram timings (4-4-4-12-2t)
enabling flexibility option
setting single channel
setting dram freq at 266
setting ram voltage at low/normal/high
reinstalled win xp sp2 +updates

still no change

I have an AGP card (7800 GS AGP) and Suspend to Ram works here. I'm running Vista Ultimate and had to apply a patch that affected the USB stack to get it to resume from sleep properly.

I heard somebody with corsair ram got the same problem, however, I have gone ahead and bought some 2x1GB geil ram since i heard good things about it (in this thread) and will let you know the results on thursday... (stupid easter holding up the post!)

Well, that would sure imply that it is indeed working in Linux. Not sure then why it doesn't work in XP. Maybe XP requires Speedstep BIOS support, which is currently disabled in recent BIOS's.

OK, a couple others above have reported same thing -- S3 working in Vista after apply usb hotfix. I'm still on XP which it seems is SOL right now on this board w/AGP card.

Any Pentium D 805 users here? What kind of OC (not volt modded) did you get on this board and WHY? I can't seem to get past FSB 157. Even FSB 158 becomes unstable in games and Firefox. Yes, I tried all sorts of RAM timings, messing around with drive strength, PCI delay, fast writes, etc. I don't think it's my RAM holding me back because it should easily handle such a low FSB.

Around 170FSB with no volt mods, 200+ FSB with 1.6v CPU PIN mod, currently @ 193FSB.


WHY?

I think the main reason is because my CPU has got a lower stock voltage compared to others, the other reason may be that I have a quality 750W PSU that does not currant fluctuate much.

My vCore is intermittently fluctuating from 1.34 to 1.28. Overall it is steady at 1.33 about 98% of the time. Would turning off thermal throttling help?
