consider finding some name brand memory.

Hi people I'm new to this forum and made a new topic by accident.

After reading (most) of this 67 page topic I thought someone could help me...

I just built a new system from ebuyer and used the 775dual-vsta and ebuyer ram:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/82244

After running memtest I got many errors and assumed dud ram...
So I have had the ram replaced and got the same errors again. I am now on my 3rd return of ram which I installed very carefully with anti static straps etc and still the same errors!
I read on the ebuyer reviews that someone else had trouble with ddr2 ram and this mobo and am asking if anyone (i think on page 4) fixed this issue.
I stuck in 2x512 normal ddr400 and it ran memtest overnight without errors.
I have upgraded from bios 1.5 to bios 2.6
I also tried the other ddr2 slot with the same results- am I doomed to downgrade to ddr or should i replace the mobo?
Any help would be appreciated!

UPDATE:
I have tried:
manually setting the ram timings (4-4-4-12-2t)
enabling flexibility option
setting single channel
setting dram freq at 266
setting ram voltage at low/normal/high
reinstalled win xp sp2 +updates

still no change

Thank you in advance.

System specs:
-Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
-Asrock 775Dual-VSTA, Bios 2.60
-1x ebuyer DDRII 1GB/266 Mhz
-Ati Radeon x800xt PCIe
-Maxtor IDE 250GB HD
-500W Power Supply
-Tuniq Tower 120
-Windows XP SP2, latest updates
-Not overclocked
-47C load

I had / have a similar problem, but my proc is D820. Basically, my board/memory/processor refuse to work without mem errors on default FSB no matter the memory settings. It works if FSB is set 5% lower (190 versus 200), or >20% higher (240) with flexibility enabled. Starting with 253 FSB (versus 200!) it starts working great no matter the memory settings.

So, my suggestion is to try under/over clock and check. Or, if possible RMA the board. I didn't RMA neither mem nor board because I am pretty sure I would get the same results, but never you know.

My vCore is intermittently fluctuating from 1.34 to 1.28. Overall it is steady at 1.33 about 98% of the time. Would turning off thermal throttling help?

Honestly you are a happy man, my core voltage was fluctuating in idle from 1.24 to 1.32 and in Orthos down till 1.16V.
Fluctuations are not related to thermal throttling but to processor load.

so i'm getting a Evga 8800gts 320meg got an offer for my 7800gs apg that I couldn't refuse

Can anyone confirm / find out if the new nvidia 8800 winxp drivers will help on this board ?? Otherwise I just run it in Vista (by the way can anyone here actually confirms it works in Vista). I'd really like to put off getting a new mobo for 1 more month due to financial restrictions

Anyone having luck with this board, the AGP 7800gs, and drivers? seems if I run the latest driver from Nvidia, I cannot see the "protected mode" popups and other issues, like logon screen appears interlaced yet blanked on each other lace at the bottom and during the pasword typing, you cannot see, not even the dots that you should see when you type.

Any Idears? Dual booting ATM, so I can still run my games. thanks.

I'm using the 93.81 drivers with my 7600 GS without any problems. The newer drivers have been buggy, especially the 100 series.

Well then I really don't know what else to do to get this Pentium D 805 to 166 FSB. It just won't go past 158 stable. Memory is ok, voltages ok, board ok, temps ok. I guess I got a dud CPU?

hi there!!

I´m using the NGO 92.91 works great, the ones with better performance for the
7800GS, I test a lot and those are the best at least here... try them and good luck!!
also don´t forget to DISABLE fast writes at BIOS.

I have a 8800 GTS 640MB in my good ol' 775Dual-VSTA (sig below), and wanted to let you know that if you end up going with a 8800 in your motherboard you will be restricted to Vista (unless 3d acceleration isn't a concern, then XP will run just fine ;-) ).

Whenever I attempt to install 8800 drivers under XP (including the ones they put out a couple days ago), my box goes into an eternal reboot loop until I drop into safe mode and remove them. Vista, however, except for the fact that the 4x PCI-E slot is capping the 8800's speed (which will be fixed in a couple weeks, once semester is out!), runs perfectly fine. Stalker at max settings is quite a nice experience (and smooth to boot).

Any chance you can tell us more details of what you say you did? I have 7800gs and same board, I cannot run Vista, when I install any drivers from nvidia or (havent seen vista driver from BFG yet) I canot see my logon icons, I cant see the screens or windows when "Protected mode" asks you to allow or deny, it gets all garbled.

I will look into the NGO, where to find them?

can anyone recommend me a wireless card for the dual-vsta that does not cause it to freeze.

when using a netgear wpn111 or wpn311 my pc will randomly freeze if using the wired port it is fine.

router is a netgear dg834pn if that is of any use.

Sorry....I posted this is the wrong thread earlier.

I will be getting a e4300 after the price cut next week. What settings will give me the best bang for my buck short of going to a new motherboard with better overclockings capabilities? My Rig is spec'd below. BTW, the last time I tried to OC with my current rig it locked up horribly I'm hoping the new processor will give my Rig a good kick in the arse! Thanks.

ASRock 775Dual-VSTA w/BIOS 2.6
Intel Pentium 4 630, 3000 MHz (15 x 200) ***(Soon e4300)***
2 GB Corsair CM2X1024-5400C4
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT (256 MB)
Maxtor SATA II 160GB 7200RPM
Windows XP Professional w/SP2
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Thermaltake Big Typhoon
ULTRA X-Connect 500W

Well, I just upgraded to 2GB of Supertalent memory (see Hot Deals) and unfortunately I can't overclock any higher than I could with my PC3200 memory (296fsb)...therefore, my limiting factor is the mb itself...I might be looking for another mb sooner than I thought...I didn't expect a ton more but with some people able to get to 310-315 easily, I'm disappointed...I know you shouldn't buy this board if you plan to o/c, but it's so easy these days to get much higher with other boards...hmmm...

Also, is anyone able to run their DDRII memory at 667? When I try to do that, the bios tells me I am in single channel mode and cannot boot...this is with timings very relaxed...

The whole point of this board is to carry over your AGP and DDR1. The support for DDR2 and PCI-E is just to allow you to slowly upgrade your components over time rather than spend a lump sum all at once.

timzak is correct ... that's what I did 6months ago with this board ... during this time I upgraded my RAM and now today I get my 8800gts 320. Decided to do the mainboard switch now that everything is complete and get a Gigabyte P965 DS3. Looking forward to finally getting some Overclocking freedom

but this motherboard did it's job well ... let me use my E6300 straight away over the past 6 months giving me vast improvments over my old AMD 64 system and cut out wasting money on a intermediate AMD X2 upgrade
