Bios 3.13a flash help.

I've tried using usb thumb drive to flash latest bios without success. Can someone list detail procedure here. Its in ISO, do I need to extract the file first? I've read through the forum and tried it without success. I don't have floppy drive, or nero software to burn into cd, and can't boot to my sata drive.

keep rebooting with current sata drive
775dual vsta
E6300
XP home
bios 3.1
sata drive
evga 6200 le nvdia (did not work)
updated via to 5.1

Had to go back to using IDE hd, old pci voodoo video card, with system now seem to be stable.

I would like to see whether updating bios would help in supporting my sata drive and my video card. Any help on what i need to do? Thank-you forum for spotting the rebooting issue with using SATA harddrive

Can anyone update on how to upgrade to 4gb memory if they have succcess and on using SATA drive please also include make and type of memory and hd use. Thank-you.

From this below thread of same motherboard newer model.

Yes a USB Bios Flash is possible and less complicated compared to the older floppies method that required two 1.44Mb floppy disks in order to fit all the necessary files using the official ASRflash tool.

One of the reasons why I used the floppy Bios Flash method was that I could not get my Motherboard to boot from a USB device no matter what I tried and burning a CD for a CD Bios Flash was wasteful IMO.

Great guide with flashing bios and mac address. The key is F11 The mb has trouble booting dos if I choose usb/floppy to boot first. That took me forever to figure it out lol. Btw, Mr Vain here's the utility you need to create a usb flash drive. HP USB Utility Just unzip the mac tools/bios to your usb flash drive and your set .

Recently, I've put 2x2GB DDR2@800 (kingston hyperx, CL5). BIOS is 2.02a. (Official 2.0 BIOS won't even boot). While it wastes part of the RAM (only a bit over 3GB accessable, depending on AGP aperture size, apparently), it works fine and stable on Linux, though on a 64bit CPU it shouldn't waste RAM anyways (way over 4GB should be able to be mapped directly).
Not without chipset support, due to the Intel FSB. The PT880 chipset can only decode 4GB total over the FSB (limited by DRAM address pins). Try removing a few PCI cards.

Bios 3.13a supports 4Gb ram, if you got this bios all you need now is to install the 4Gb ram.
Sata drives work ok with this board I use the below disk.

How to Flash Bios 3.13a iso file format Help

Can someone post the instructions and which flash software and where to download the flash file to be able to flash an iso file. Thank-you.

An ISO file can only be flash from a cd? Which burning software would I need?

I've read through the forum without any clear instructions and still without success on flashing the 3.13a iso file. Thank-you.

Has anyone had any success getting this board to work with a 45nm chip? I'm looking to start an upgrade path around the new e5200 and would love to be able to save money on a mobo right now until I'm able to afford a worthwhile upgrade.

Has anyone used the ASUS EN8600GTS PCI-e card with this board? I know ASROCK says the MSI board will work, does anyone see any reason this board won't?

Did you ever take the plunge and give any of these PT880 ASRock boards a try like I recommended, Larry? If so, what did you get and how do you like?

I bought 12 of them from 3Btech.com for $29 ea, I couldn't resist at that price. I've traded two away, and am probably going to build with one of them for a friend with an existing AGP 7600GT card. The rest I'm trying to resell, and having no luck. I thought surely for the price, I could find a few buyers in the upgrade market wanting to move to a Core2 and keep their AGP and DDR, but no.

Anyways, the beta bios that supports 4GB, E7200, and HD4850 is interesting. I'm going to try flashing to that BIOS, and test an E5200 in it (as soon as I order another E5200). The 9600GSO, I just bought for another friend that has an IP35-E board (along with an E5200). If it works in the 775dual-VSTA, I might buy another, although I'll have to wait for another rebate. $50AR is a great price for those cards.

I think if you had been at least six months earlier, there would have been more interest. The market for this board has been dwindling sharply over the past six ~ eight months. That, and its been replaced by the 4Core variants which there was more interest in for obvious reasons.

I would think so, but the card may need a BIOS flash to work correctly (similar to what my 8800GT needed to make it work with this board). Whether Asrock has a BIOS flash (yet?) to correct the issues with PCIe 1.0/1.1 (or whatever the hell it is) and the 8800xx series, I don't know yet. I only know that the card had to be in PCIe 1.0 compatability mode via onboard flash (of the card).

I think you might find that the e4700/e5200/e5300 makes this board a gem even in old age! High agp voltage in bios, auto ddr2 ram settings, even synchronous pcie and raised fsb as high as it goes, no mods or special heatsink necessary and still good results (though not maximum!)

Hello guys, i'm having a very serious problem with my ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard.

Lately, my computer has randomly been shutting down all by itself, everything to do with the motherboard looses all power, my moniter stays on but looses signal.

I thought it was my powersupply so I got a differant one and the problem still persists.

I've had the mother-board for about a year with no problems at all and now it powers off randomly. The problem is so bad I can't even get to the windows logon screen without it loosing all power!

I'm running a Thermaltake 430w, 2GB of DD2 Ram(667?), 160 GB Sata Harddrive, intel pentium 920 d (2.8ghz dual core), with a 7900 GT KO Nvidea Video card!

It seems if I unplug the 4-point power cable that powers the USB section of the mother board (see picture)

http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=powerwc7.png

But leave the main power plugged in the the computer stays on but of coarse doesn't function properly.

Can you guys please tell me why my mother board is randomly loosing power?
-Thanks in advance AnandTech!

Hey all,

After reading 35 pages my eyes became a little sore and figure it would be a little easier to post my question upfront to see if anybody here that has been following this thread closely can answer it.

Let?s waste no time, here are my PC specs:

BIOS 1.4
CPU: Intel e6400 (2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz)
Memory: Patriot PC3200 1GB (Dual Channel) @
Video Card: ATI x850xt PE AGP

PCI Slot: Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1

SATA: Raptor 74GB

IDE: (2) WD 320GB + (2) DVD-ROM/Burners

Question #1:
When I upgraded to the latest BIOS 3.10, I can?t get the memory to reach my CPU default specs @ 1066 MHz FSB. No matter what setting I adjust in the BIOS.
When I revert back to BIOS 1.4, the memory divider corrects itself automatically and runs at 1066MHZ.

Am I missing a line in the latest BIOS where it adjusts the memory?

Question #2: How do I fix the crashing (and shrieking AUDIO NOISE) that happens nearly every time I dare to open CPU-Z, GPU-Z, Sandra benchmarking, ATI Tool, etc.

Sometimes in videos games it freezes, locks up and makes that same shrieking noise.

Checked all temps and they are all in range. These parts were in a prior system and never had a problem. These problems arose when I changed to this motherboard.

Help me out thanks!

FRUSTRATING! No matter what I change in the BIOS settings, nothing works! I am starting to wonder if the problem is my sound blaster PCI card. Anybody thinks so?

Should I even have a 5.1 sound card if I have the onboard audio? What do you think?

@ZepHeaven
One way to find out is to pull the card and see!

As for BIOS settings, browse this thread or the one for the 4CoreDual-VSTA to see what settings are working. Make sure the flexibility option for the ram is disabled, for one thing.

I guess you are right only way to find out is to pull the card.

Okay, my computer always locks up 95% of the time when I start Speed Fan. It always freezes at the part when it scans all the buses prior to launching, ISA BUS 2090.

ISA Bus 2090, am I on to something here? What does that control?

I don't use speedfan muhself. An improper scan can certainly lock up a machine, so why not try Everest Ultimate, or some such.

You could try resetting the board. There should be some jumper settings in the manual.

Also, I had a similar issue (Blank screen) and it was caused by memory not being seated correctly. Does it still work fine with the old RAM? Do you have another computer that you can try the new RAM out in to make sure it is good?
