Asrock 939 + Canon IP3000 printer problem

Anyone else having difficulties with Canon USB printers on the Asrock 939 board?

I can print files and photos from my PC, but can't print from web pages and can't print a Windows XP printer test page - system reboots in either instance.

I thought it might be an IRQ conflict with Audigy 4 sound card, but eliminated that with a clean XP install with neither sound driver nor card installed - problem persists. Problem also persists with onboard sound installed.

I've also tried printer drivers both from the CD and downloaded from Canon USA.

The printer installed and ran flawlessly on previous Abit NF7Sv2 board.

Any help would be appreciated.

Stuff the IRQ conflict myth. You got either a driver crash there, or a power glitch problem. Set XP to not reboot on crashes to see what's going on.

Same thing happends to me. My Pc reboots sometimes when i print. So far, i have not found a way to fix this problem

I'll assume you guys are using the USB connection?
Windows comes with it's own USB2 driver, you might want to try using the ULI USB2 Driver.
http://www.uli.com.tw/eng/support/drivers.php Select M1695 for unified driver.
Another thought; if you are using USB, make sure "Legacy" USB is enabled in BIOS.

I had the same problem. Switching to LPT: connection didn't solve it.

The solution for me was to change command rate from auto or 1T to 2T.

It now doesn't re-boot when printing!

Sorry - I solved the problem same day, but didn't bother to post the cure.

The problem was instability due to 1T command rate. Crash due to page-fault error whenever a significant page-write is encountered.

Best quick test is Memtest86 Test#8.
