OK, not sure what I'm missing but BIOS 1.20 will not allow me to up the CPU speed??

I have CPU, PCIE set to Async. Is the OC bios the only one that will allow for the cpu speed adjustments? Is there another BIOS setting I need to disable before I can adjust the speed?

Strange.

Nesta, what specifically are you changing. The thing I didn't catch was that you can't change the mutilplyer, only the fsb. Given the right cooling you should be able to somewhat over clock. I can basically overclock about 10%.

I'm running my +3200 venice at the rated 2.0 Ghz right now 10x200. Memory at 400 2.5-3-3-6 1T (Corsair pc3200), CPU to NB at 1000.

I wanted to first just bump the CPU speed to 220 hit 2.2 GHz and do some benches.

Wait a minute...doh....might be my own ignorance of these new options. Must I manually enter '220' into the speed?? I keep looking for a list of speeds to select from and not seeing it.

I'm going LOL @ myself if this is the case.

Yep, that was it.

OK running at 2.2 right now. The machine reboots from some office applications. Anyone else have issues with MS office apps?

Any word on more Uli 1695 boards from other manufactures? I have visited Uli's site and the only board partner they have listed is Asrock. I have heard other board makers using this chipset, but nothing has been released. I guess with socket 939's passing i'll want a socket 940 anyway, unless of course there is no AGP to stick my 6800Ultra into.

I haven't heard anything else. There were rumors of several other manufacturers working on m1695 boards, but either ASRock just beat them to market by 4+ months somehow, or those other manufacturers aren't going to bother with making such a board at all.

Just guessing - that board-makers perceive the ATI Crossfire chipset as having more market appeal than the ULI chipset.

I have no doubt that's the case, but that sure doesn't help anyone who still has a high-end AGP video card (which is probably most of the userbase of this ASRock board).

fyi I am running a s939 opteron 146 at 1.4V with 260FSB to get 2.6 ghz. it is rock solid stable.

bios V1.2

I know that I could overclock more with another motherboard.....but this is a very cheap, very silent system right now.....and I am pretty darn happy with it.

Just curious...

What are the benefits to running the new Socket 939 Opterons over other same speed AMD64 Athlons? (is the chip different in architecture?)

The Opterons have twice tha cache and overclock a little better. Other than that, they are pretty much the same.

Nope. I've got a 3200 Venice rock stable at 2.6GHz with this mobo. 2.7GHz was somewhat stable, but not enough for me.

The new OWCB3 bios has just been released. It seems that 1T/2T has been resolved for some .
Also i have seen the voltmod by rebel's haven(1.65v vcore) causing problems for some who did it. apparantly burning the regulator and/or cpu.
DONT DO REBEL'S MOD.

I RMA my board. Just can't stand 1.4 volts.. long boot times and using a hacked bios.

I too really wish some real board makers/bios writers would take this chipset up I booted at 380 HTT when I was testing and it's rock solid chipset.

Thanks for the info on the new BIOS, I'll add it to the OP. I haven't been following the voltmods too closely (I only just now ordered my Opteron 170, the motherboard will be ordered within the next few days so I won't have it until next week); do you happen to have any links to people telling of problems with the 1.65V/1.70V voltmod? I suppose it's not too surprising, if the board really was only made for 1.55V. I think I'll probably just be doing the "conductive pen" 1.55V mod, since I don't have any soldering skills anyway.

Zalman 7000B on the CPU and the memory settings are 2.5-3-3-8-1T. I'm also using a memory divider.

Do all the 7000-series work with A64? I have an early AlCu one, just not sure which (I think it's the B), it's on my Northwood ATM. Should I be OK to stick this on an Opteron 165? Good to hear it fits this board.....

It should work. I have the all copper one. It idles around 38C and Prime95 for 6 hours it'll push 52C.

I just purchased one of these boards along with a Opteron 170.

Is there AGP support for XP64? I'll be using it with my X800XTPE.

Not that I've heard, but I haven't checked. If you write Asrock and ask them they are usually pretty good at responding promptly. Let us know what you find out.

Note that when it was asked to prove 32M superpi for 300x9, the moderator became rude and ridiculing the member. If you read the post by"plank" (another moderator) admits his mobo burned up 2 weeks ago. their way could work for 2 months and then fried.
If 1.55v can give you 9x300, but 1.6-1.7 voltmod no proof of >300 fsb, it would be foolish to do their voltmod. I did 1.55 voltmod (by OCW) and feel safe.
