Have ordered the AsRock Dual Sata board, which should be here Tues.

I'd been looking for an AGP/PCI-E combo for a while and like the fact that its got true AGP and not just going through the PCI bus.
Now I can use my AGP X800XT and still get PCI-E in a year or two.
Anand's review really swung me to this board and its unknown chipset, and now hopefully my cpu/mobo upgrade is complete for the next two years.

Will keep everyone posted on my experiences of the board when it arrives.

Interested on how the ddr settings work.. Plan on getting one of these boards and doing some overclocking. Aiming for 300fsb. With this setting, is there a way to set the memory to 200mhz still??? Just what to know.

Plan on getting this board, 3200 venice. and aiming to overclock to 3.0ghz. I got a nice water cooling setup, and I think I can hit the mark. Thanks

Yes, there are memory dividers.

There ALWAYS are memory dividers, since you'll hardly want the RAM running at CPU core frequency. For those who STILL haven't noticed: AMD64 has the RAM controller inside the CPU, running at full CPU speed. RAM bus frequency is divided down from CPU core clock.

What you're looking for is a RAM speed limiter setting in BIOS.

Anyone know or have ideas how this board will run with 4 dimms. I have been researching all weekend for a 939 AGP mb and have my choices down to either this board or an Epox 9NDA3+. I am just swapping out the mb and cpu from my current system in sig. I already have an XP90C on order . I want to place my order today and hopefully have everything operational by Thurs at the latest. Thx.

It's my understanding that any Socket 939 motherboard will basically have the same results with 4 (double-sided) DIMMs...that being, they'll run at DDR400 (instead of DDR333 which would happen with older CPU steppings), but at 2T instead of 1T, which will decrease performance, but not noticeably. As Peter said, remember that the memory controller is actually a part of the CPU itself and not the motherboard, so as long as you get a Venice (or Manchester or Toledo) A64, you'll be able to run them at DDR400/2T.

I will for sure.

What about the San Diego. I was looking at getting the 3700.

If this board had better voltage and OC options I'd probably be all over it, but looks like I'll have to wait for Epox, DFI, or MSI to release a board with this chipset.

i agree... I'm about to order this board since i have to for college pretty much but i'm really hoping the community finds some way to unlock the voltage options. has it been done before? Oh well, despite that we are given an excellent board at a superb value.

one question for everyone that has this board: what kind of overclocks are you getting with the X2 3800+? I am trying to decide between this board, an DFI Lanparty non-sli, or an epox. Please let me know if some of you are reaching 2.5-2.6?

thanks,

Cold boot problems? Every cold boot it fails to see my WD Raptor on the first SATA port (not the SATA II port). If I ctrl-alt-del it reboots fine and comes up. I only have a CDRW/DVD as Master/Primary and no other drives. I've cleared CMOS and set everything up including re-detecting my drives and it still happens.

I wonder what changes were made (other than the one listed)...anyone who already has the board want to test and report for us?

Changes : CnQ lower voltage to 1.1v.

"other than the one listed"

What BIOS version are you running?

Just figured I'd post it in this thread so people wouldn't have to follow the link and scan THAT thread as well.

Wow. I have to echo others in saying this looks almost to good to be true. I've been rotting on my socket A system with a ti4600 for awhile since PCI-E came out because I didn't want to snag another video card that would be useless when motherboard upgrade time came. The prospect of a new cpu, motherboard and video card all at once wasn't to exciting for my bank account. But I went ahead and got an AGP card with plans to make the 939 plunge with this board some time in the next 6-9 months or so.

Performance up there with the heavy hitters, uncompromising AGP+PCI-E support, future cpu expansion and to top it all off, a budget price! The only draw back I can see is some layout issues that I believe I can deal with.

Thanks for the info (it appears to be out of stock at Newegg as well). Updated the original post with that info.
