Well guys i just made my order tonight. This is insane about some of these parts. As soon as they find out these parts will be popular they keep raising the prices on them and price gouge. Anyways i bought a 3800+ x2 from zzf. It was the cheapest out there by about 10 or so and zzf has always always been awesome. I ordered the asrock dual-sata2 from newegg. Right now i have (512x2) of corsair value and (512x3) of geil value with blue heatshink. I will see which overclocks better and going to buy more ram of the same type depending on which overclocks better. I do want at least 1.5 gig of ram but i will have to go with 2 gig of course because of installing ram in pairs. I like most people wont spend a TON of money on my ram and end up paying more for a system that overclocks then what you would have bought a processor at the speed you overclocked to..seems pretty retarted to me. Im hoping i get a toledo core but i will have to see. No manufactoers are guaranteeing it unless you want to pay $400 or more and its from place ive never heard of before.

Pray for me to get 2.5-2.6 . I will let you know how everything goes

Peace,
Ncage

that 128 could be whats hurting you. CPU-Z 1.3 works fine for my board.

It seems to let me install Nvidia 66.93 Driver.. What the crap!

I lied.... Just tried running 3dMark03 ... getting 1-10 fps....

I think this motherboard sort of looks at the settings you put in the BIOS, and maybe decides to do that.

This time when I booted, CPU-Z says my memory frequency is 200 MHz; CPU/9... not sure why it wouldn't give me that last time.

Not that that helped my 3DMark05 score, I still am getting 3197. (OK so it went up ten points... still 400 below where it should be.)

The last oddity I have to report is that CBId says my HTL speed is 800 MHz, shouldn't that be 1GHz by default? BIOS has it at Auto, I'll try pegging it to 1000 and see what happens... whee!!!

I do not know if AsRock is to blam or ULi but this is too much of a waste of my time dealing with this...

What are good AGP 939 overclocking mobo's?

what a bunch of crap!!

I sent e-mails to AsRock and ULi maybe I'll get some kind of answers soon.

LOL Lord blue did you not like you at all. I have no idea why he went off on you like that. He is sometimes rude and to the point in his post but this is the worst ive seen. I shoudl be putting mine together either monday/tuesday. I will let you know if i have problems. I sure hope i don't. I have an xfx 6600gt agp. You know it might be an nvidia problem too.

Bluetooth always did seem to come across as kind of an ass when someone asked the wrong kind of question (from the short time I've been watching that forum), but I'm very surprised at that. Totally unacceptable. It's almost as if he was telling you that you aren't good enough for the ASRock club, or something.

Tommorow i am going to put in a 9800pro and see if it works ( i bet it does) and then I'll have to make my mind up if i want to return this board (lose 15%) or keep it for now or sell it off.

Great review... alot of pictures, and one picture of 3 video cards installed. AGP, PCI-e, and PCI.

Enjoy.

BTW: Damn it is late I need to hit the rack.

Thanks

But the werid thing is someone on OCW got it to work eventually but i tired his steps and it did not work for me.

Like i said it could be something else with the hardware it doesn't like.. PSU?, HDs?, CD/DVD?

Not to sure. I'll have a 6800LE AGP and a QuadroFX 3400 PCI-E to try this weekend so I'll update you guys on this.

Not everyone is having problems. Just a few people seem to be for some reason.

My BFG 6800 GT is working fine in this board, and compared to my old system scores actually improved from 4500 to 5100 in 3dmark05. I am running the 1.1 bios and the drivers that came with the board.

edit: spelling

yeah i bit the bullet and let it go. With a motherboard this popular there's alwyas going to be some problems, it can't be worse than my problematic Neo 2 though. Bring it!

Toms hardware is bias anything that isn't Intel.... so I don't take that review meaning much.

Some updates

I got my ATI 9800 Pro working... No problem

This makes me mad even more.. I know it isn't the motherboard but with Nividia Drivers or ULi Drivers...

Well update later or this weekend about the use of 6800LE and QuadroFX 3400

Well after setting mem speed to 2000, HT speeds to 1000, and basically forcing the BIOS to do what it should have figured out anyway and run everything at stock speeds, I was able to get 3230 on 3DMark05. Still not as good as the 3500 range scores I would get on my old Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0, but hey at least I've got a working system.

I may twiddle around with fast writes, AGP slot speed, and so on. I'm not really satisfied with a 10% performance hit, and I can't really accept that NVidia cards perform 10% slower on non-NVidia chipsets. (I mean, why would NVidia do that? It makes no sense.)

Alas, I'm hoping that some new driver or bios ride in on a white horse and fix all this... such is the life of an early adopter.

Keep it coming. I feel like the fish that is just about to bite the hook. I just need you folks to tug on the line a couple more times! I'm all about scalability in a motherboard. I lucked out and the first real computer I ever built had a ABIT KT7A ver 1.3 motherboard in it. That thing took me from a Duran 600 all the way up to a XP2100 and I didn't have to stop there either. This is the first board I've seen in forever that seems to have any promise of longevity. The caps issue should be considered being I'm on a EPoX 8K3A+ now and all the caps a nearly blown already for the SECOND time! I'm just itching for a new board and this one has the right price already and does everything I'll need. I wish it didn't use rivets to mount down the processor housing and I wish it already had another PCIExteme slot so SLI was possible. So what I say for now. When the better version comes out, I'll give this to my wife. Jiggle that line some more for me now.
