Well guys i FIXED!! my problem

It was casue by me.. The problem was, this motherboard did not like my modded 6800NU bios, werid, i forgot all about it. So i put the stock on back on and it worked lol..

test some test..

The system is faster then my NF3 maybe by 5%. But the strange thing is both my 6800NU->QuadroFX4000 and 9800Pro->FireGLX2 both did 50+% worst in the EnSight (ensight-02) benchmark for Specviewpref.. Werid bug?? not sure.

I will try a true quadro this weekend and see if it is anybetter.

OC results so far
Venice 3000+
I am able to boot at 2.7Ghz... WOW! not stable with 1.45v though. Only if i could add more

Right now running 2.5Ghz @ 1.45v DDR333 (~230Mhz on ValueRAM 2.5x3x3x8x1T)

I will prime it tonight and tell you if it is stable tommorow.

I am using the OCWorkbench Beta1 bios (it fixes my issues with booting, but for some reason SpeedFan does not work with it lol)

Hmm how werid..

It seems that this motherboard allows me to overclock my video card too!!

My VNF3-250 would not allow (with either bios)

With my CPU at 2500 and my Video Card at 375 Core 780 DDR i am getting 10500 in 3dmark03... WOW!!! i am so happy.

i think this motherboard is growing on me lol, now only if i can figure out why that one part in Specview did so badly.

I just benched mine. Got 10,100 in 03. Everything at stock, and only running bios 1.1 currently. My AV8 gave me 10,600 when i had that all tweaked out so im sure i can hit higher with this.

My stock NU score was 9500 with this board and 88xx with my last so i can't complain.

Ok well it isn't just ensignt that is slower, it is Ensight,Catia, and Pro-E.... Everything else is faster... Hmm i wonder what wrong... Either way i don't use those apps, the ones i go use it was faster so thats nice (3dsmax and Unigraphics)

Maybe i should try an OpenGL game (Doom3) and see if it is faster or slower.

I've Red' thru most of this Thread, missed some of the Middle pages. I'd like to hear what the score is on that Doom3.

I just bought a EVGA 6800 from Newegg. What does the "NU" mean ?

I'm considering getting this ASRock, if my Soyo Kt400 Mobo can't handle the 6800.

Regards

the Nu is the "6800". NU is what people call it because it is not a GT, not an Ultra, so NU= Non-Ultra. 12pipe 5 vertex.

Ok i'll install Doom3 now and update you...

*edit*
Doom3, 78.01 Drivers, VSync OFF everything else stock settings in Nvidia Control Panel
Doom3 Settings: 1280x1024 High Quality VSync Off, everything else stock
timedemo demo1
51,58,58.1

So second run says 58fps which is pretty good (i think) so you can take it as you want. My CPU Settting and GPU are in SIG.

PCMark04 48xx... it is about 400 points higher than my old computer but i bet that is because i have 200 more Mhz.

lol

well i rather help the community then hurt it

My bios mod was a QuadroFX mod. So i wonder what the M1695 looks for that the NF3 doesn't. I maybe it is something to do with the PCI ID did not match and the M1695 did not know what to do.

So right now i am using Rivatuner to do the softmod. But i think I'll try to fix my bios moded bios and see if i can make it work again.. I'll post updates.

haha, no, the chipset definitely doesn't look for anything.

However: It might well be that your modded VGA BIOS has an invalid checksum - which some system BIOSes ignore. More carefully written system BIOSes verify the checksum before invoking a card's BIOS, and in the case of a VGA card, you don't get a picture then.

Hey Lord Banshee, thanks for the updates. I can now comfortably recommend this board to friends. Too bad the price seems to be jumping on it.

Peter:

I tired the bios with running the Rivatuner Checksum generator and it still did not work. Either what you said isn't the problem with this board, or Rivatuner Checksum tool doesn't work as i thought.

Any insights to this?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris - is C'n'Q working for you with the OCBW1 BIOS? It went away for me when I switched from 1.21.

The byte-checksum of the entire image must be zero. You can check with a simple hex editor utility.

BlackPear1:

Never used C'n'Q. I'll look into it. but from what i read the OCBW1 bios is only for overclocking. It is very well that they disabled it. I'll check in a few hours. I'm Prime95ing 8*325 = 2600 right now. Stable for me if it is good for a couple of hours.

Peter:

I'll look into it and report if rivatuner actually made it Zero or not.

Thanks. That's an impressive oc you've achieved there. Have you considered starting a thread to share your bios settings with us? I'm taking it slowly - have my X2 3800+ at 2.5 (at the default 10x multi) but I believe that it will do more.

W/ my 6800NU I'll Only be running a Soyo Kt400 Ultra Mobo w/ 2400+. The 6800 may get CPU limited. So I'll probably get a Much Lower Score.

Lord Banshee,
Thanks a Bunch for the Added Info

the oc was great, but the bios seem to have problems

ASrock needs some work.. Not sure if you ran into it but other have not just me. Some times when you reboot the led on the CD/DVD roms keep blinkly off/on. It seems the bios is rebooting the system over and over in a loop. It doesn't do it all the time, but the higher the overclock the worse it gets.. I am back at my 2.5 because of the issue. I will be e-mailing Asrock about it.

I have yet to check the C'n'Q, been tring to figure out why ensight, catia, and pro-e. I wish someone with a true Quadro AGP card would test this . I have a true PCI-E i'll try tommorow but my guess it is the AGP Driver.

I have this motherboard but haven't installed it yet. However that reboot problem you mention is exactly the same problem I have once in a while with my DFI NF3 Lanparty motherboard. It only happens when I do a normal reboot, if I boot up after a power down, it doesn't do it then.

I was thinking of buying another power supply also to try and see if it did it with that. I read my amd64 cpu is supposed to have more amps than what I currently have on the 12v line.

I haven't tried installing this new Asrock motherboard yet. I was hoping that reboot problem wouldn't happen with it.

Ewiz carries this same Asrock now also, with free shipping.

Heads up guys, there is now a volt mod for the CPU. NPlack was able to get over 1.65v on the CPU!

Check out the volt mod here:

Nplack said on ocworkbench that he didn't make it work correctly and possibly fried some stuff. So i thought he said.

Report on the PCI-E and AGP QuadroFX problems

Well i am going to have to confirm that the problem is not the chipset but the AGP. The quadroFX PCI-E worked great and proformance was where it should be. So if anyone finds someone with the 939 M1695 board and a QuadroFX AGP card would be great to see if you get the similar problems.

Thanks,
Chris

That was with the intial mod he did. Polygon ended up pointing him in the right direction and now it's good to go.
