There is no "sync" or "async" RAM with AMD64. All RAM speeds divide down from CPU core clock.

The Asrock board is now available in the UK at two or three select retailers and it's very reasonably priced at £45-£50, compared to £65- £70 for an Abit AN8-E. It's definitely at the top of my most wanted list, just have to persuade the wife that I need a CPU to go with it . . .

Videogames, the board you've spotted doesn't have the PCI-E support, and the only ones I've seen with that chipset are m-ATX.

its available for a couple of weeks now in germany for about 55-60 Euros. Only complaint i read in forums was about CnQ only working at 80% and missing oc options. Alot of ppl probably wish to have a cheap board with both AGP and PCI-e, still the Assrock model is the only way to go. Sad, hopefully there will be further board with the Uli chipset.

Alright, let us know how it goes and what it's got as far as overclocking utilities and such in Bios

My understanding is that oc is limited in bios, however there is a certain overclocking web site that has info on a beta bios with oc options. I am ignorant about the etiquette of posting about other forums but the site will rank high on the list if you search google about this board. I am more interested in stock performance (for now), but liked the ability of keeping my 6800gt agp, and still having pcie down the road. The rest of the system is getting a MAJOR overhaul with this board.

I've used a asrock k7s8x, k7s8xe+ and a k8 upgrade 760 gx without any stability problems. Asrock motherboards are not usually the fastest due to the use of safe bios settings and no overclocking features but sometimes a performance bios is released to the asrock fans on ocw.

I think my next motherboard upgrade will be something using the ULi 1695 chipset because from what I've seen it looks very good and I don't want to sell my collection of agp video cards just yet!

I read the Bios manual off the website, and it looks to have evrything for overclocking but Mem voltage adjustment. But you never know untill you get the actual board to play with what is in there due to poorly written manuals

I have been following this board on the ocworkbench site for some time. I know members ther complained about a lack of bios options for overclocking. They have a group of beta bios there from asrock, I believe the last one is also going to be an official release from asrock. The egg already sold out on this board so i guess I wasn't the only one waiting for it to come available stateside. Projected delivery is on the 8th, I guess due to the holiday weekend. Depending on when this arrives I will post as soon as I have some info for you.

You wrote, "... too bad only Asrock makes boards with that ULI chipset. Any rumours if other companies will follow?"

More companies are rumored to follow this week or next.
ASROCK was the first.

Unfortuantely it is based on the older REV 1 ULI reference design.
Anandtech has already reported and reviewed the newer REV 2 ULI motherboard reference design.

The newer design is better.
It corrects some problems, like now there is 2x PCI express-x8 slots.
The obsolete design required a riser card if you were ever going to use SLI.

think my xp 120 would have any luck on this? My K8N neo 2 just died so I need to get a new board. I figure I might as well get this so I can use my current agp and upgrade later instead having to waste money on 2 new boards.

I second Asrock, and their boards have been solid for my builds, k7s8xe+ was a great alternative to all the crappy budget via boards, had no problems w/ 9600 pros.

What is wrong with ULi?

Certainly superior to VIA which has long been a staple of the low-end boards.

SiS / ULi > VIA

Public recognition. There are few things wrong with anyone's chipsets, be that Intel, SiS, ULi, VIA, AMD or whoever.

Many Taiwan and China board makers do have ULi product - but they're not going to the western world with them, because ULi doesn't have a name here. Yet.

Those who do are even going the length of labelling the chipset differently, e.g.:

http://www.pcchips.com.tw/PCCWeb/Produc...il.aspx?DetailID=254&MenuID=22&LanID=0

That's a ULi chipset right there ...

has there been any talk about how good the M2 future CPU socket thing will be? I mean, the expectation is that the M2 socket will be fully functional and not handicapped in any way, right?
