ASRock AM2 riser board pics

Synth's above post is spot-on correct, but for anyone still using this board next year for a media server or spare gamer rig, it would be beneficial to pop an M2 into it for a much lower price (one year after release) and give a nice performance bump to the setup.

I just bought a the Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 and a opteron 144. I figured this way with overclocking I can have about the fastest single core cpu they will probly every make. Then when dual core is used more in games and apps I can switch to dual core. Which may mean using the the AM2 socket and this riser card. Either way this MB should be in my main system for 3 or 4 years, and I expect it to used for something for much longer than that considering the upgrade potential of it. I have also heard this riser card works in the Asrock NF3 socket 754 board. So that board when from 754 to 939 now maybe to AM2. Who knows maybe we will see a riser card for the next socket after AM2, not that I like changing sockets.

Yup, that's why I bought this mobo. If the M2 expansion proves to not hinder performance in anyway, I might actually use the expansion card for my next cpu upgrade, but that upgrade won't happen for quite awhile.
