Hi there, I recently bought this board second hand cause it is no longer for sale here in the Netherlands. But I have weird stability problems with it.

I use it with the following hardware:
E4400
2x512mb OCZ pc3200 VX
X1650Pro
NB is cooled with a high cmf 40mm fan

The board runs good on stock speeds, but the problems start when overclocking it. I have it running sort of, not tested for more then 1 hour, blend stable.
CPU is Orthos stable for more then 5 hours.
The system now runs 10 x 261fsb, 5/4 ram ratio, 2-2-2-6-4 timings, 3.2v via DDR booster. The problems here are that on some occations when I exit some
games, I see my desktop for a sec then screen goes black. Or the screen just goes black when I exit a game. Disableing Ati tray tools only lessens this issue.

261fsb seems the max fsb my board can run, anything from 270 to 300 results in a non bootable system. Also any fsb from 264 to 266fsb with 5/4 and 3/2
ratio also results in unstable memory like problems. Though my memory was able to run 240Mhz on this board om a 1/1 ratio.

What can causes these thing? I think I just have a bad bord/northbridge, which doesn`t like the higher fsb ranges over 264. Pity cause I would have settled
for 2800Mhz, which I can`t reach atm.

Have you tried running it with looser RAM timings? Does your board undervolt? I'm wondering if your CPU needs slightly more voltage to OC. That was my problem, and why I was limited to 2.8Ghz.
I don't know about the screen going black when you exit games. Does that still happen when you run everything at stock volts and speeds?

Yesh I tried looser timings, 2-3-3-8-4 @ 2.8v. But it was only Blend stable for 2h and 45min untill it had a fatale error.
Asrock says it has to do with the memory im using, that I Need to use cas2.5. But I don`t know if that is the case or not.

I recently had reason to remove my SI 3114 PCI SATA controller, and my Promise Ultra100 TX2 PCI IDE controller (such that I only had a video card installed), and my BIOS FSB setting was STILL MISSING.

I don't know why this is happening, something about the Promise controller's installation that did something with the NVRAM and the ROM address mapping or something. I'm thinking that I might have to flash my BIOS (and clear NVRAM) in order to get my FSB setting back. Be warned!

Hi all,

I would really like to get hold of one of these Conroe865PE boards. Has anyone seen any available anywhere? Can't seem to find any here in the UK.

Gary.

Good mobo for people with AGP & up to 4 sticks of DDR1 who want to jump on the C2D bandwaggon !

However, very little chance of finding one in the UK these days. Of course desperate UK people should probably keep looking on somewhere like eBay.co.uk; as below, whch runs till 8th April,

So, any idea if there will be a beta bios to allow the 800FSB E5200 45nm CPU to work in this board? Tcsenter, Vailr, you guys have any clue about this?

I've read on a german forum that the new 1.71A beta bios (made for 45nm E7200 Wolfdale CPU) supports this processor.

I also would like to buy an E5200 for my board, but now I don't have time, so I'll try it approx. in November.

I successfully flashed this 1.71A bios.

It's natively support CPU:RAM divider changing.
You can choose from 5:4 , 3:2 , 1:1 what you want, so there is no need to mod this bios version.

So now I just need to get an E5200 CPU, and will find out wether this bios version support it or not.

Finally I bought the E5200 processor, so here is the results.

E5200 is working flawlessly in Asrock ConRoe865PE motherboard with 1.71A bios. CPU is correctly recognized, speedstep & C1E are working properly, and also the applied voltages are the same as required by Intel.

Power Consumption (Orthos 100% CPU):
- E4400@2GHz AC 150W
- E5200@2.5GHz AC 138W

This 45nm CPU is really energy efficient.

I made some speed measurements on default frequency, and I also did a small overclock.
- E5200@2.5GHz SuperPI 1M 22.922s CPU-Z valid link
- E5200@3.06 GHz SuperPI 1M 19.703s CPU-Z valid link

Here is an E5200 review
They made a SuperPI 1M test with a Gigabyte EP45-DS3 mobo., 2x1GB DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 memory, and they reached 21.766s, which is approx 5,3% faster than Asrock, so I think this mobo with 5 year old chipset still performs well.

Video compression test (2 hours of Mpeg2 720*576 -> Xvid 1.5Mbit/sec 640*480)
- E4400@2GHz 293min
- E5200@2.5GHz 244min

Anybody know if a E5200 will work with the 775i65g board ?

It isn´t officially supported according to Asrock, but i am hoping that it will work anyway (it´s not that much different from the 4xxx series).

Hopefully i don´t have to edit my BIOS

Will repport back with my findings so the next guy with a 775i65g doesent have to find out the hard way

Not sure what you mean when stating that Bios 1.71a natively supports user CPU:RAM divider changing between 1:1, 5:4, or 3:2 ?

With a G0 version Q6600 fitted to my Conroe865pe, and using good quality DDR550 memory, the FSB:MEM ratio is stuck at 3:2 nomatter what FSB is used. This unfortunately means I cant get Memory Bus to go over 200MHz ---> and in fact can only achieve as high as 200MHz when the main FSB is at 300MHz ?

Only way I can achieve 5:4 is by using the modded "AMC Conroe865pe div 5_4 Bios 1.1" from PCTrieber.net; which is based on the 1.6 Bios. Then with FSB at 300, the Q6600 runs at 2.7GHz and my DDR550 memory runs at 240MHz!

If you have a 200Mhz FSB-native CPU, then all of the DRAM ratios seem to be unlocked. If you have a 266Mhz FSB-native CPU, then it seems to want to force you to use a certain DRAM ratio. That's been my experience.

If actually true, then means that asrock mobo and/or bios is "not properly fit for purpose" since using a 266 type CPU appears to natively force DDR400 or better memory to run default of 177MHz (DDR354) ?

Of course if asrock bios only ever offers ratios of 1:1, 3:2 or 5:4 then obviously not possible to have memory at 200MHz with default FSB of 266MHz ---> a "new" ratio of around 4:3 would be required for such a situation?

However, fortunately for people like me there was the alternative option of being able to force 1:1 or 5:4 by flashing with a suitably modded PCtreiber Bios !

The E5200 works on 775i65g with 3.20 BIOS

The CPU is correctly recognized, and the voltage is Intel spec.
One small problem seems to be speedstep, mine is stuck at 6x multi, so it is actually slower than my E4300 ATM :s
Hopefully i can figure out how to get it to run at 12,5 multi and all will be well.
