I dont quite understand it.

Also if you look at the closeup pics of this board it only supports up to 3 way SLI even though it has 5 slots.

With the sheer size of the heatsinks on this board aswell as other X79 boards, this platform seems to get very hot.Also there are rumors swirling that these chips themselves get quite toasty and thats why Intel branded their own watercooler.

I think this setup is going to demand a customer LC solution boys. :|

This would be the first chipset that would demand LC. I don't think it will. I forget the name but remember the intel chips that ran hot as hell? Even those ran on air.

Well, if you use one of those Intel or (Brand name here) LC solutions on your cpu then that means the air that those giant heatsinks relied on from an Air CPU cooler is now gone.

The heatsinks will then require direct air cooling from the chasis or a custom LC loop with custom heatsinks.

These boards are also designed with multi-gpu setups in mind which creates an awful lot of heat aswell.

Im sure the system will function just fine using air cooling (it might be like a small furnace), but I think anyone thinking of OCing will have to use some form of LC.

What I find interesting is that this motherboard has a 4 pin molex connector for PCI-E. I've seen pictures of Gigabyte and MSI X79 motherboards and they don't have one. Even the GA-X79-UD7 doesn't have one and that board allows up to 4 video cards. Would not having one cause the same problem as it did with X58 when 3+ cards are used? I'd hate to have to replace another Corsair AX1200 if the same problem exists.

That's an x79 board, A) It's not out yet, B) Your 2600k would never fit in it.

I can't get this to overclock at all, barely a bump.. hoping i'm missing something.
