Did anyone have issues mounting this is their case, from what I'm seeing is that's an inch off width wise from normal ATX standards. Going in a Stacker 830 on my end. Is part of the board just going to hang?

Just wondering is all.
yup, mine hangs off an inch probably too in a corsair 500r case.

I wonder why they did that... Odd. I'll have mine later on today. Looking forward to putting the rig back together.

Anyone actually running crossfire or sli on this board?

*did anyone else find that once the processor was in the socket, closing the socket up again took a little more force than usual? I didn't see any bent pins on the board or the processor, but I'm a little concerned.

Hi and Welcome to the forum

Yes the issue you stated above is normal. I had one where I thought I was going to break the lever it was so tough.

Great, thanks. Yeah, once I got home from work at played around a little bit (had to re-seat the video card), everything worked fine--posted and installed Windows, hurrah!

As to the question above about Crossfire/SLI--given how close together the cards would be, it seems uncomfortable in my mid-tower case. If I had a bigger case and could get better airflow adjacent to the two cards, I might do it. But I'd be curious to hear how it went if anyone actually has done it.

Bottom card usually sits very close to the power supply. I would use a side fan as an exhaust to try and reduce the temps a bit.

hey guys, new here, but i just recently purchased this mobo and it seems to working great!

Now, I have two questions, At start-up, bios shows my i5-2500k (stock clock) rise from roughly 40c to 50c~51c in UEFI bios after about 5mins of sitting there watching it climb. Is this normal? (i've heard this bios puts about a 60% load on the cpu, but that's just hear-say)

I dont have windows yet so i cant tell idle temps in windows.

Also, for those with this mobo, i'm occupying all 4 ram slots (these are low profile btw) I need a good cpu cooler, what coolers are you all using with this mobo?

Any LGA1155 cooler should fit the Extreme3. It doesn't have such large heatsinks as to interfere with CPU coolers. The most popular choice is Cooler Master Hyper 212, but definitely not the only one to consider.

Hey guys, I'm planning to get one of these boards, and this thread is probably the best source of information on it currently available - and a good read too. I was sorely interested to know how the Thermalright Ultra-120 side-plot ended. I have one, and would love to keep it for the new board. Has any of you managed to fit it securely onto the board?

Cheers,
Boris.

Mine "fits", but if I had known how much of a hassle it would've been, I would've just bought a Hyper 212 Evo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103099

Here's what I had to do:
Buy 4 m3 screws (I think that's the size...I'll look for sure if you're interested).
Buy 4 washers to go with the screws.
Cut the screws with hacksaw to get them to be just the right length
Use 4 springs I had lying around.
Spend way too much time messing with it to get it just right.
Even though it fits, I still have concerns about the pressure it puts on the back of the mobo. The backplate sits on the backplate of the CPU socket and not on the motherboard itself.

Kalrith, was this with the original X-shaped mount, or with the Bolt-thru Kit (the one that's compatible with Venomous)?

So just started OCing my 2500k on this board tonight. So far I've hit 4.6 stable after 2 hours of linx and p95. +.02 offset, giving max voltage around 1.295.

Also installed an HR-02 Macho. A little bit of difficulty since I didn't have a long enough screw driver and had to use the little wrench to get the screw on backside in. The heatsink fits nicely, and so far the highest temp I've seen is 61C ( Tjmax -37 in Real Temp) Right, now running three linx threads, plus WoW with my character in Orgrimmar.

Pretty happy with this board.

Anybody here running this board with 4x4GB RAM instead of2x4GB? If so, how's the overclocking with the 16GB?

Hi guys--

*did anyone else find that once the processor was in the socket, closing the socket up again took a little more force than usual? I didn't see any bent pins on the board or the processor, but I'm a little concerned.

*do you know where the pins are on the board for an internal speaker? I can't seem to find them.

*have you used Dr. Debug? I love that name.

Thanks, and I apologize for my newbish questions!

Installed one last night too. Didn't have any issues.

The processor was normal from what I remember. I don't think there are pins for the internal speaker. I didn't even see one in the box. Haven't used Dr. Debug.

One thing I noticed as others have said, it's not really full ATX and the middle of the right side of the board is a little flexible... conveniently, this is where your 24 pin ATX power is and I could see how it would be easy to think it was fully connected but it might not be. So check that connection and all your power connections.

Otherwise, put each stick of ram in individually, see if you can get it to post. Try clearing cmos as well by hitting the button the back and taking the battery out if the button doesn't work.

No issues at all with 4x4GB of Corsair Vengeance PC1600.

My 2500K needs a tad over 1.3V to be stable at 4.5Ghz which is a little too much for my liking. Stable at 4.4GHz with 1.296V and stable at 4.3GHz with ~1.224V
