Awesome! Can't wait for this year's Madde--er--ASSASSIN'S Creed game! I'm sure there'll be a whole slew of innovations and clever new ideas!

I knew the video said pre-alpha, but so much of it look awkward. Hopefully the animations gel together more and make sense.

Honestly I was one of the few people that really didn't have any technical issues with Unity and I actually liked the game. I thought it addressed a lot of the weaknesses of some of its predecessors (minus its pacing).

That said I think I've finally burned out after what eight games now? This did nothing to excite me and frankly after Unity's general reception they should have slowed down the releases. Unity is still too new yet already Ubi is claiming this game has learned from its mistakes and will be different. Psst at the rate these are being pushed out the game was probably largely mapped out and many features already set.

Spoilers in Syndicate you meet a multitude of historical figures that will serve as a weak secondary cast and only be around for a sequence or two before moving on and meeting the next historical figure/being involved in historical event, thus not build out a strong secondary cast to enhance the narrative with.

Eh... I think I'm done buying Ubisoft Open-World Games® for the forseeable future. At least, until they decide to do something new in place of the stale tower-climbing/map-unlocking nonsense. I already have a personal rule where I wait for AC games to go on sale for a tenner or less before purchasing them.

wow. The displacement mapping on the ground and walls look pretty incredible... And the lighting as well!

Well in this you do not have to climb it as much as you got a rope dart that can make climbing higher easier

But yes, I am with you. After Unity lack of story to keep me wanting to go forward, I fell that they should take a year or two off so everything is not so fresh. I will probably be with you, waiting for sale. I have not picked up Rouge yet either same deal, waiting for cheap sale

They kinda seem lost after AC3 story wise, although Black Flag started an interesting new thread but it has not been fleshed out yet.
Unity story from the way I understand it was, not sure if this is spoiler stuff anymore or not but to be safe

Abstergo is looking for Sage remains, Arno meet one and found the remains, but oh they are in the catacombs and have deteriorated to far to be useful. Oh well

never played any AC, but i find interesting the fact that they keep advancing in history. Hopefully they will have a game set in the future, and i'd play that.

That's where I'm at also after spending so much on their new releases. You will pay less an the patches will allow the game to actually run properly if you wait. Although Far Cry 4 is an exception in that patches broke that game.

I bought AC1 for PS3 the day of release, and thoroughly enjoyed it, as repetitive as that game was. I finally got around to playing AC2 on steam late last year.

I feel like I'm at the proper pace for this type of game. The mechanics are always a bit fun to begin with, the environments are always great, but everything becomes so tedious by the midway point. I can't imagine playing a new one twice/year, or whatever their schedule is. This series is so absurd, really....and I've only played those first two.

The storyline is good until they decided to make "Those who came before" some type of AI constructs and killed off a main character.

If the entire story was the past only with no present day BS I would be much happier.

See I am the opposite of that. I rather liked the first civ stuff and they did start to go into an interesting area where one is trying to come back in the end of AC3 but in BF and much more in Unity, there was no real significant connection to that.

Although killing off Desmond was a bit of a shock as that was the main connection for the player to the game, where as the other 2 are just Random Employee(BF) and some random gamer playing on the console(Unity)

That's the problem, they killed off a(the) main character and then everything got lost.

I am a big history fan so I enjoyed the historical sights and architectural info they added to the locations.

Well, there's a big fat spoiler for someone like me.

It's OK, I hardly care about these storylines. The present crap was always annoying to me--glad it was barely there in the 2nd one. It interrupted the first one way too much.

I always felt like the present day sub-plot broke immersion. It did provide some context early on, but I never felt like it mattered. It was a poor design choice from the beginning. I wish they would just ditch it.

I could be wrong about it because it was years ago, but I have this vague memory that Assassin's Creed was supposed to be a trilogy, where Desmond would learn how to be the ultimate assassin, culminating in a modern day showdown with Abstergo. I guess Ubisoft probably changed their minds when they realized how strong the series was going to be for them financially.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/10/assassins-creed-syndicate-review-something-old-something-new/

Well apparently are review is out, i just skimmed it, but basically the same old same old,
although they do like the carriages and zipline

I will probably wait for a sale, not it a big rush to get it. still have not played rogue either

The good

Switching between characters is a refreshing twist, and Evie makes a great leading lady
It’s easy to lose hours in London’s various activities, particularly taking over Blighter territory
The main story missions are a lot of fun, thanks in no small part to the use of historical characters and a compelling villain

The bad

Most of the new mechanics are clearly borrowed from other games
Being pulled out of the interesting gameplay to watch a modern-day cut-scene

The ugly

Chase sequences are still the worst

Verdict:

Syndicate is a step in the right direction for the series. It’s not as innovative as it could be, but it’s an entertaining adventure worthy of the name Assassin’s Creed. Buy it.
