Just got my new components.

Had purchased a Thermaltake Swing VB6000BNS Mid Tower Case and I bought a Corsair HX Series CMPSU-520HX 520W Power supply to go in the case.

The power supply doesn't fit. There's a small steel shelf in the case that the power supply is resting on. There's a small metal protrusion about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide that prevents the power supply from sitting flat.

What the heck? Since it's a Thermaltake case and they make power supplies, do they configure their cases to only use their power supplies?

Also, I was plugging in the little LED connection from the case onto the motherboard, and the little connections don't show a + or - on them. They do have a little triangle on one side. Does that triangle indicate + ?

Sometimes you might have to 'alter' a case slightly when putting in a new psu.
They are suppose to adhere to the standards, but they sometimes don't follow it 100%.

The led connector will not hurt anything if you plug it in backwards.
Try it one way and if it doesn't work , reverse it.

I have to ask, only because I did it a few times myself.

Are you putting the power supply upside down in the case ???

Check to see that the screw holes in the PS line up with the case.

i looked at the case you have on Newegg, the PSU shoulf fit fine,
are you trying to put the PSU from the back through the openeing? sometimes you cant do that and have to go in through the case, just line up the screw holes on the back of the PSU with the case and it should fit fine, looking at it it looks like the PSU will sit above that piece of metal

The power supply has a fan on one side, so I'm facing that down, wouldn't make any sense to have the fan blowing against the lid of the case. With that side of the PSU facing down, there aren't any other ways to put the PSU into the case.

Basically, the PSU rests on a small shelf that's welded to the inside of the case. The shelf is maybe an inch to 2 inches wide. It's pefectly flat along it's length until a certain point, and then there's this metal "protrusion" almost like it was done by design just to make the shelf fancy. The problem is, my PSU is long enough that it extends beyond the flat area of the shelf and onto this "bump"

It's an ATX case and an ATX power supply. Wth would Thermaltake put this "bump" on this shelf. It serves no functional purpose. But it's preventing my PSU from sitting flat on the shelf!

Not sure how to post a pic.

But in that link you sent, the top picture....you can see the "bump" from the side angle. If you find the PSU opening, at the bottom of that hole, you can see the "shelf" that runs back for several inches. On top of that shelf looks like a small piece of wire or whatever, but that's the side view of this "bump" It's about 1 inch long.

Exactly. And it can't press down on it. It's .8mm thick steal that's been deliberately formed to stick up.

Have to mash it down or cut it out, I guess.

saw it off!
Should be easy to work with, because there is room for saw to go back and forth.
(Don't forget to remove mobo first)

This pic shows the second bump is 5.5 inches in from the back of the case. And my psu is 6 inches long.

Yeah that is a bit odd.
Most just leave those areas flat.
Take a dremel too it

Called Thermaltake. bump is by design, PSU is supposed to sit on top of it. They sent me pics. Talk about odd....but I got it in.
