Deal is now up to $229.99. For that price, I'd get the EVGA for $5.00 more. I like EVGA's CS dept. Very nice and quick to help.
The Asus's heatpipe cooler is superior to the reference design in the EVGA, though neither help evacuate hot air from the PC.

Being one of those '209 price people', I see it a lot less 'funny' and a lot more 'suck about amazon'. I'm ready to put Amazon down next to Dell on my list of disreputable vendors who take orders on items that they have no intention of delivering.

It seems to me that when they suposedly "sell" a card that they have no real intention of delivering, just putting delatyibg the ship date indefintely, what they are really doing is establish a "floor" or minimum price that they will sell them for.

Plain and simple, it's just false/deceptive advertising. There ought to be fines for this type of behavior.

No money has been charged, and you can cancel your order at any time.

Jim, what you say is true; however I agree with 'nobodyknows' that the buyer has a right to expect that the seller will ship the item in the time frame posted. While I understand that unexpected delays can happen, the seller should have some explaining to do when a 1-2 week shipping estimate keeps getting pushed back so that we're now talking months.

I stay away from vendors (like Dell) that seem to have made this their standard operating practice. This is the first time I've had this happen with Amazon. As I said before, the fact that Amazon saw fit to make this a 'deal of the day' at a lower price before delivering to backlogged orders (and that the lower price wasn't extended to their backlogged orders)makes their failure in this instance all the more aggregious.

Amazon's now on my 'watch' list for untrustworthy vendors.

I do hope the wait is short for the rest of you who ordered the card.

Well looks like we got shafted. Just FYI.....

Me: Hi, I placed an order yesterday for the ASUS GTX460 1 GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/1GD5 - Overclocking Edition
I made the order when they were $175 each. I just got an email stating that the order has been cancelled due to some kind of price screw up.
Being a small business owner who honors when I make a mistake, I would like to file a complaint about Amazon abruptly cancelling the order without any compensation. Thank you.

David: Hi Steve, I'm very sorry to hear about that. I understand how this policy could be upsetting. I will forward this feedback to our business team right away. I am very sorry that we can't compensate you for your canceled order.

Me: Thank you for forwarding this. I know people that have had the card on order for months, and just had the order cancelled. I was lucky enough to not have to wait that long, but I think that was a pretty large mess up on Amazon's part. I hope that feedback at least gets to someone in the business team

David: I personally would be very upset if a situation like this occurred with me. I will make very certain that this is brought to the attention of someone who implements our policies on price errors.
Is there anything else I could do for you tonight, Steve?

Me: No, thats it, thank you.

David: Alright, Steve. Have yourself a nice evening. Thank you for visiting Amazon.com, we hope to see you again soon!

UPDATE: After a little nudging....

Me: Hi, I placed an order a little ago for (2) of the ASUS GTX460 1 GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/1GD5 - Overclocking Edition graphics cards
I made the order when they were $175 each. I just got an email stating that the order has been cancelled due to some kind of price screw up.
I have spoken to other people that were affected by this, and they were given compensation in the form of a promotional certificate. Being a long time member of Amazon, I find it aggravating that I did not receive anything other than a bland email that stated the order was cancelled. Could you tell me why this is? Thank you very much.

Prakash : Hello, my name is Prakash. I'll be happy to help you today.
Can you hold for a minute or two while I research this for you??

Me: yes, thankyou

Prakash : I'm very sorry that this has been a disappointing experience for you.
I'd like to give you a $20.00 promotional certificate, which you can use the next time you order an item shipped and sold by Amazon.com.

Me:thank you, that is great news

Prakash : Your promotional balance doesn't appear in Your Account but will always display when you place an order.

Me: Ok that sounds great. Thanks for the help

Prakash : Thanks for visiting Amazon.com. We hope to see you again soon!

Sounds like they should give everyone a twenty!
I'm not involved in this deal, but very shady on Amazon's part!

I'm assuming that Amazon has some sort of instant chat customer service, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone give me a hand here, I've got some schoolin' for Amazon.
