Asus 9600XT ...unstable..? poor benchmarks...??

Ok, just installed a "used" Asus 9600XT 128MB vid card (agp) into a gigabyte 7NF-RZ motherboard...running a athlon xp 2500 at 2.2 ghz (vid card set at 66mhz) , also running 1.5 gig of ddr400

i am having all kinds of problems... i think it's a compatability problem with the nforce2 chipset, but not sure... Omega drivers don't work...(alot of lock ups..freezing) just in windows of all things..? Played Doom3 for awhile using high settings 800X600, no problems..

did benchmarks using 3d2k3 and got around 3400 or so.. which i think is kinda low...
also i can't overclock this card at all.. just the tiny bit corupts the benchmarks...and they freeze....

i have found numerous threads about the 9600XT and yet not a solution on how to fix it..?

now i am running the latest ATI drivers... no software from asus and i updated my mb drivers as well...

if anybody has any solutions, i would greatly appreciate it...

3400 sounds about right for that card.

The 9600XT is a 128bit 4 pixelpipe card - 3400 isn't bad. I had almost the same set-up with a 9500pro and scored 3800.

hmm, would think you could overclock it, wonder why it's so picky on overclcoking..
