I just joined up to the forums...primarily to post information to those who own the ASUS A7M266 (non-dual cpu) motherboard and wish to have the AMD 2200+ xp processor. It took some doing but I just got it running today...without too much hassle. But since I went round and round...I thought I would place the info out there for others.
First, e-mail ASUS at their website www.asus.com.tw and request the latest beta version BIOS 1008a266.02b.
Then flash the BIOS using the ASUS aflash utility (info on how to flash the BIOS can be found at the site)
After flashing the BIOS, replace the old cpu with the 2200+ and appropriate heatsink (various heatsinks are recommended for the 2200)
Then, you must set the following jumpers on the motherboard (See your motherboard manual):
1) Set the jumper JEN to 'jumper mode' JEN: 1-2
2) set the DIP switches- DSCKF to 133MHz 1: On , 2: On , 3: On , 4: Off
3) set the VID jumpers to 1.8V VID1: 2-3 , VID2: 1-2, VID3: 1-2, VID4: 1-2
Then start the system....the first cpu I got was a dud, and did not post. The second did....
Once you have started the system, go into the BIOS and go to Advanced. There, make sure the frequency is set at 133...it should do this automatically. Then, IMPORTANTLY, go to Chip Configuration and set the S2K Slew Rate to "1"
Before all this make sure you have at least a 300-350 Watt power supply...that 2200 is a hog!
This worked perfect for me...my computer is flying!!!....but since we are in such a litigious society, let me say that this is not expert advice, and if your computer blows up and kills your dog, don't blame me. I recommend newbies to do their homework first.
I hope this helps at least one person out there so they don't spend as much time as I did. Let me know if this helps!

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for this thoughtful post! I don't need it personally, but I'm sure somebody out there will appreciate it!

Awesome post cow dog. I have that motherboard and a 2200+ and since my AT7 is giving me
problems with my sound I might have to switch over to that. Could you email me the bios ?
My email is in my profile.

On the Asus website they state the 2100+ is supported using the 1007 BIOS. So if I bought the 2100+ am I going to have to play with the jumpers or did you have to do that just because the 2200+ isn't officially supported on the board?

I have a 2100+ on an A7M266 mobo in my wife's pc. You won't have to do anything to get the cpu to run. Just flash to 1007 and plug it in. Done.

Good job CowDoc, but that sounds like a lot of work just to be able to run the 2200+ instead of the 2100+. We're talking about 70MHz of speed gain. But, hey, if you're happy, then so am I!

ASUS reccommended flashing the 1008a266.02b BIOS (beta) at that time. I changed the jumpers primarily to set up for the 1.80Vcore. I believe the beta BIOS was also reccommended since the 2200+ was the first line of the T-bred AMD CPU's. Can the 2200+ run on the 1007 BIOS? I don't know...I should have tried just to see, but I was too hell bent to get that CPU up and running!
