I'm surprised how low those 3DMark scores are! I figured at least a 3100 mark or so with a XP 2000+, but 1600 marks? UGHH, that's terrible! of course if you only have 1 stick then the graphics are running at 64bit instead of 128bit with (2) sticks for dual channel. (I beleive that is right).

My Nvidia Video capture has and error. It says that they do not have all the drivers.
Any patch for that?

Installed the latest drivers and gained ~50 3d marks. Doggy graphics
in this puppy. I think i'll dump win98 and load XP on it and try that.

Thanks for the responses.

As was mentioned before in this thread already by mechBgon there is only a 64bit controller with the 220D chipset so 2 sticks of ram don't improve the bandwidth to the graphics. btw, anyone who bought this board with the intention of 3D gaming should have known the performance would reflect the price tag

Hehe... exactly right, this is a great SOHO/school solution, but if you plan to run recent games on it, don't rely on the onboard video for anything too demanding. Half-life would run pretty well on it, IMHO...

For the record, I ran 3DMark2001 on my home system last night, with a 32Mb GeForce2 GTS-V (a lower-clocked variant of a full-blown GTS) and a 1600+ at 166/166/1750MHz, and only got a 3687, whereas cutting-edge systems are now exceeding 10000 easily. Still, I play UT2003 Demo without any problems using this rig.

I just ordered an asus a7n266 vm refurb from newegg.

the description doesnt' say onboard video, but it does have it right. sorry if it sounds like a stupid question just wanna make sure it's right. and also, it's not "AA", not amd assured, so that mean anything? major differences?

I just wanted a mATX board with onboard video for a little project.

Yeah, they all have video so you're set. The AA-labelled board is the same as the non-AA one, as far as I can see (we've got some of each, I never spotted any differences). Have fun

Could you give me a linky for the detonator drives? I think I found em, but I don't know exactly what they are. Thankyou. Also My Nvidia Video capture has and error. It says that they do not have all the drivers. What do I do? Could you give me a step by step directions on installing the drivers and what drivers to install

Sure thing. First the easier one: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp Start with "Graphics drivers" in the left pane and work your way across.

As for the video capture... is that a function of the motherboard, or of an add-in video card you've got? Go through the nForce driver-package installation procedures for Win98 and see if you've got everything installed. I had a quick search on nVidia's site and found this support note, see if it sounds like the issue you're up against: TV/Vid capture problem and solution

Is it the onboard video you're using, or an add-in card, and if so, what add-in card is it?

In that case, pick "Graphics Driver" in the first Panel, "GeForce and TNT" in the second one, and "Windows 95 / 98 / Me" in the third one, and click "Go." On the page that comes next, click "Primary Download Site" and it will show an agreement where you can click "Accept" to start the download.

After download, completely turn off any antivirus software you have, then run the installer and reboot when prompted. Also, make sure to check out those video-capture troubleshooting instructions if the Detonator video drivers don't fix the issue.

If the sound drivers aren't properly installed, you'll probably want to follow that nForce driver-package installation guide for Win98 that I linked to, also.

Tell us in more detail about the going-fast part... games run in fast-forward, is that what happens? What games have you run into that with?

This is my first 3D computer realy so I have no retail games. I do have a HP with poor 3D intigrated video(what I am using right now). I tried Motorcross MadnessII Demo and Midtown MadnessII out. Both play like they are in fast forward. IN MCMII right when I start playing it plays like it is in fast forward or the keyboard is realy sensitive except it is not (I already thought that might be the case so I slowed down the keyboard sensibility with no avail). I am downloading ArmadaII Demo right now to see if it works.

I will post in a little while after I try out Armada II with the results.

Hmm, you might want to try Mechwarrior 4 Demo too (said a biased person ). The download's not too big compared to some. Also the Descent 3 Demo and Descent 3 Demo II from www.interplay.com, if you're not too susceptible to motion sickness

I tried a few more things and found out that only after you play MCM2 does MM2 and also ArmadaII go fast forward like.

I've learned that with computers and software, there are sometimes Problems That Can Not Be Solved and this could be one of them. You might search Microsoft's site for patches for your game demos, if you really get desparate.
