Here is the link from Newegg. This board has it all audio, video, lan, nForce etc .etc and it's only $76!! I did a search but could find anthing here or at google. What do you guys think. Is this the deal of the year for building a complete reliable system? Any thoughts on the board?

Take a look-

ENLIGHT MICRO ATX CASE MODEL # 76020B1 $45
SAMSUNG 1.44MB FLOPPY DRIVE Model#.........$6
WD EIDE HARD DRIVE 20GB 7200RPM.............$64
CRUCIAL MICRON 256MB 32x64 PC 2100 ........$65
CPU AMD|DURON 1.1GHZ RTL............................$58
Asus A7N266-VM NVIDIA nFORCE 420..............$76

TOTAL is only $314 and a decent system for your "normal user"

This is a great deal for what you get. Quality ASUS mainboard, LAN, audio, video, NIC, and modem.

Definitely the board to get for integrated systems.

It is pretty good, I would not hesitate to recommend it, but keep in mind that it does not use nForce 420-D but 220-D, and the video will be significantly slower than other nFOrce boards, but still, its good

Not sure it has modem but still for a guy that just wants a reliable websurfing document procucing computer this is a good deal.

And I didnt know that about the graphics problem, being slower that is.

There's isn't a graphics problem, it's just that it doesn't have dual channel memory like the nForce 420-D motherboards do. However, it'll certainly perform better than any integrated graphics on the market today so...

here is a link at a less reputable dealer, I was worried about the D part of the 220-d chipset since newegg pictures dont' show an spdif connector. The picture of the accessories included at the link seems to show an spdif and another rca type connector, maybe tv out? Asus doesn't have anything like this up on their site yet, but I agree, for anyone contemplating any sort of amd system I think this thing rocks. Slap a modem in and you have a complete system, slap a new vid card in the agp slot and you have a killer gaming rig. I'm trying soooo hard not to buy one to replace my two computers right now- an intel/via combo and an amd/via combo- via is getting better but Nvidia has a much better track record in my book.

Actually I had bought this board yesterday at a local place for $74 + tax. It includes 2 spdif connectors on an extra bracket. The other extra bracket has 2 USB 1.1 ports. The intergated MX graphic is not that bad. I have no problem of playing Jedi Knight II at 1024x768 with max detail. Just make sure to set the share memory to the max 32mb or the game will keep crashing. The screen quality of the build-in nForce graphic looks as good as my Radeon 7200. Another good thing is that I have no problem of fitting an huge Alpha 8045 on it. However, there's no overclocking at all with this board and it has only ONE fan header.

No built-in modem, which isn't a crime because it's more than likely that it would be a Winmodem. Just read a post at OCer's that said that there is no where for the sp/diff bracket to plug into on the mainboard. I have an older "Budget Biz board for AMD processor's" from Asus, the A7S-VM. Eveything works perfectly on this mobo, LAN, Sound and Vid. But the A7N266-VM beats it by a country mile, for less money.

Many of the Asus mainboards sold by Newegg are OEM. I'm a bit reluctant to buy OEM, if only because I bought an OEM Vidcard recently that came with a driver CD-ROM that is probably damaged. Can't say for sure, I'm waiting for a mobo to plug this Vidcard into, and I'm lazy. The Retail Box version of the A7N266-VM is available from Directron for six more bucks, shipped.

The new A7S333(SiS 745, however this mobo is made for Ocer's)board from Asus costs less and sports the C.O.P. feature. At last, CPU temp as reported by the XP's/Morgan-cored Duron's internal diode. It's about freakin' time, you mother's of motherboard builder's!

Yeah, that single fan header is the killer for me, I'm going with the Abit NV7M which is available for $89. Nice to know the A7N266-VM can support the 8045 though. The annoying thing about the NV7M is its seriously non-standard backplane (normal motherboards are, left to right, ps2/kb port; USB/LAN; Parallel/Serial/Video; Audio/gameport....the NV7M is PS2/KB; Parallel/Serial/Video; USB/LAN; Audio/gameport. Not a deal-breaker (especially since it has 4 fan headers, includes the proper backplane shield, and my PAL8045 will fit on it), but it's weird.

The backplane of the A7N266-VM has the Vid plug in place of Serial Port #2, so TV-out might be do-able--yet probably is too much of APITA. I ordered the Retail Boxed version from Directron, it's supposed to be here on the 28th. I just broke my right wrist, so my neighbor kindly offered to install it for me. Whew! This slightly damaged K7S5A will finally be circular filed, Big Bopper willing. It's too bad that the built-in GF2 MX is such a lame Vidcard, but it beats other built-in Vidcards by a mile. I imagine that nForce chipsetted mainboards will either drop the built-in Vidcards completely, or offer up to date video cards instead. Maybe? I wanted the A7N266-VM before I knew the GF2 MX was included. Newegg needs to see to its writers, 'cause they made no mention of the GF2 MX. Wish me luck, please!
