ASUS A7N8X POST beeps

I have several systems with the ASUS A7N8X and one of them which I built for a friend has died. After troubleshooting various components including the graphics card I managed to get it to boot to BIOS with a different PSU (one beep from the POST to indicate all is good).

So after purchasing a new one and replacing the PSU it still won't boot at all (not even to BIOS). It then occurred to me that there is no beeping at all when it is powered up. Green power LED is up but no signal to the monitor.

My understanding is that if there is no POST beeping or speech reporter it's a pretty good indication that the motherboard has died somehow. I've tried reseting the CMOS a couple times. I'm thinking I was just lucky that one time when I tried a different PSU and jumped to the conclusion that the PSU was bad. Since I've now tried three different PSUs including a brand new Antec out of the box I can rule that out.

I'm thinking that even if the CPU or the RAM had crapped out it would at least inform me with POST beeps or speech right? The speaker connection is good.

My friend said her kids claimed to have accidentally kicked the machine right before it died. Anyone experience a dead A7N8X before that may be able to help me feel more confident about ordering a new mobo here?

Had trouble with my A7N8X last night. Got stuck on the ASUS screen, no beeps, no post.
Fortunately resetting the CMOS did it for me. I took the battery out as well as moving the jumper, not sure if that made the difference or not.

Is the CPU fan spinning when you power it up? HSF/ram all still seated properly?

My kids have done a lot to my PC's but they haven't gotten around to kicking the crap out of it.

Yeah the geen LED light comes on and the CPU fan spins up. I reset the CMOS just like you did by removing the battery and then the jumper. I looked around ASUS's website for answers but there isn't much to see about this.

The one and only time it actually booted to BIOS was when I plugged the PSU into nothing but the mobo (no drives). But this only worked one time. I got a single POST beep that time.

There is a three year warranty but it is apparently not valid if the system is built or disassembled by the end user. Not sure how they can justify that since the board is marketed at end users for the purpose of building. Since these boards hit the market less than three years ago they should all be covered. There is no sign of any physical damage of course.

I have toyed with the idea of giving her my current A7N8X-Dlx and picking up a new NF3/A64 combo for myself.

That's what I'm going to do if I have one more problem with mine.

Before that, I'd still check the seating of the HSF on the cpu, ram seating and all the mounts for the motherboard. Maybe they kicked one loose or actually cracked the board around one of the mounting holes - won't help you fix the problem but at least you'll know what it is.
