ASUS A7V Motherboard Working Perfectly With An AMD Athlon 1.33 266 FSB CPU

I cannot understand all of the problems that everyone is having with the ASUS and other Motherboard Manufacturers that use the higher speed AMD Athlon CPUs.

I am running Windows ME and have had no problems at all.

My AMD Athlon CPU runs 1300 MHZ, since my ASUS A7V Motherboard cannot recognize the 266 FSB.

Is my older ASUS A7V Motherboard more stable then the ASUS A7A266, A7M266, and the A7V133 Motherboards?

Why are there so many problems with the other newer ASUS and other Motherboard manufacturers when they are using these higer speed AMD CPUs?

I think one of the reasons is inproper cooling and temperature that may adversely affect the stability of the Computer's Systems and Applications.

I feel that my Computer System is totally stable due to its excellent Power & Cooling Components.

I think that PC Power & Cooling makes the best Cooling Solutions.

It may cost more, but if you want total Computer System stability, then spend the extra money for the PC Power & Cooling Products.

I have the following Computer System Components.

ASUS A7V Motherboard BIOS Revision 1007.
AMD Athlon Axia 1.33 266 FSB CPU.
PC Power & Cooling Mid-Tower Computer Case.
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 425 Watt ATX Power Supply.
PC Power & Cooling Computer Case Front And Back Silencer Fans.
Cooler Master EP5-6I11-A1 Heatsink And CPU Fan.
256 Megabytes of PC-100 SDRAM.
Western Digital 26 Gigabyte IDE Disk Drive.
Plextor UltraPlex SCSI CD-ROM Drive.
Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40A CDRW Drive.
Adaptec 2940UW SCSI Disk Controller PCI Card.
Diamond Viper II 32 Megabytes AGP Graphics Card.
3COM 10/100 NIC PCI Card. - Used For Networking And DSL.
US Robotics 56K Internal PCI Modem.
Sound Blaster Live PCI Sound Card.

I have that board.. I wan't aware that it has a 13x multiplier. How did you swing that?

It's actually the 12.5 multiplier that runs at 13x. It's implemented in a later BIOS version, not too sure which one, although my A7V is running 1.007 or 1.008, can't remember for sure.
I've got a 1.1 TB@1326 running in mine 13x102. I'm not too sure how much higher this board will go because over about a 103fsb is starts to cr@p out on me.

Yeah mine craps out at anything above 103 too.. it sucks.. All the people with the KT133a boards are having fun going up to 150fsb... sigh.. must be nice.

My A7V has been great too. I don't know why all these problems happen either. I've had mine for almost a year with a Duron in it and haven't had any problems what so ever.

13X multiplier? Where? I'm using the bios version 1007. How do you switch it to 13X? Do I just need to switch the jumper to the 12.5 Settings?

From what I understand you set the multiplier to 12.5 and then the BIOS will set it to 13.0 when the CPU requests it. But I could be wrong.

you are correct, 12.5 on the A7V means 12.5 and > over so as long as your cpu is unlocked your fine. If you put a 1.33 in it will see 13x100 if you put a 1.4 in it will se it as 14x100 and so on and you must have the latest bios I think it's 1008E

I have an A7V with a 1.33(266) runnning at 13x100=1300 with a vcore of 1.65 with no problems.

I have a 1.2Ghz(266) with me. How would I know what the CPU would request it to be? 9x133=1.2Ghz. That is a 9X multiplier if I leave it at jumper free settings.

Also, do you know where to get the latest bios with the HLT command in it? I remember there was a site where they implemented it themselves but can't seem to remember where it is now.

>How would I know what the CPU would request it to be?

if your in jumper free mode it will read what the cpu is, 9X but the A7V is an 200FSB board so it will read 9X100=900

if your in jumper lock mode it will read what the jumpers are locked at, if you have the jumpers locked in at 12X then it will read the 1.2(266) cpu at 12X100=1200 but in order to do this, your cpu MUST be unlocked (have the L1 bridges connected).

>where to get the latest bios with the HLT command in it?

it's over at braziliantech.com but I would not recommend it, the HLT command is there for a reason, getting rid of it will put your cpu at total rest state but you will give up some performance. Just my opinion.

NicColt, I'm kind of lost from all the BIos upgrades there are now. Do the 1008 bioses contain HLT commands with them? I thought they don't? That's why I was looking for a Modded bios WITH HLT in it.
