Of course this is the M.B. that Tom shouted to the masses that it had multiplier adjustments and based a whole review around it.
Well they are gone!
Go here:
http://www.asus.com.tw/products/motherboard/socketa/a7v/index.html

The links to the jumper and manual pages are up now and all reference to multiplier jumpers or bios adjustment are missing in the manual as well.
Except for this:
NOTE: Frequency multiple are not available here because AMD AthlonTM processors have locked Frequency Multiples.

Unless it still there and they don't want to make a big deal of it, this is not good news....
Now the EPOX-8KTA may be the last hope....

So why the hell did ASUS decide to take em out? And how come they use the word "AthlonTM" in that sentence when they used "DuronTM" or "ThunderbirdTM" the other times?

The Epox board looks nice (6PCI, and an ISA for that last old part), but I wouldn't rely on it for overclocking. Epox has never been specifically geared toward overclockers.

I wont be too worried until the board is actually out- who knows, maybe they do it in the Bios?

Well, there's always the QDI board, don't know anything 'bout QDI. Maybe ABITs board allows for O/C, don't remember the number.

even if the switches arent there, the contacts WILL BE, its too hard to remove the circuitry, but not hard to deleve a switch from a mb design, it will take a bit of patience however to solder on a new switch, i hope asus still has the switches because damn, you know abit will and i dont want another abit board

I'm with alchemist - Time to whip out the soldering iron. I don't think they would remove the traces where the switches were.

The only good news is that the only way Tom can get it out of the wringer on this is to show us how to modify the board to get around the abscence of the DSW's.

If you look close at the spot where the 6 dipswitch block was there does appear to be solder pads...very hard to tell though with the PDF...

Does anyone have some cool utility to blow it up clearly??

Damn.. I can't wait for someone to actually get a retail one in their hot hand to see if that block is there or if the bios allows it.(jonnyGURU have you seen one yet?)...come on ASUS!! RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!

Tom said.....
Therefore the multiplier for an AMD SocketA processor can be chosen either by modifying the data send by the SIP-protocol, which could be done by the BIOS, or by supplying the north bridge with your own FID-settings, which requires a 'cut' between the north bridge and the actual FID-pins of the CPU.
We are already working on an easy solution to do the latter.

Is that a "review" mobo, or is someone retailing them?

Well that bursts my bubble!!!! I was so hoping for a 950 MHz power house for $100. Hopefully the QDI board will workout. I'm not sure I would want to try overclocking with an Epox motherboard, they've never been great at it.

This does suck. But at least this news reaffirms my decision to pick up a cmine this weekend. After Tom's review, I was going to wait for an AV7, instead of upgrade this weekend. Now I can upgrade now and upgrade again if we get our multiplier adjustment...and all without guilt

how about something between the cpu and motherboard (like the powerleap neo adapters) that interferes with the cpu's fid (multiplier) pins and instead sends its own info back? i don't see why not.

I think it could be OEM versions of the board that will not have these jumpers, as OEM's prefer not to let the end user overclock etc. You can get Abit boards without the Bios option to adjust the clock speed.
