ASUS A7V or CUSL2?

With AMD doing so well at the moment, I am seriously considering switching camps for the first time. The main thing holding me back is the perception of lower stability and compatibility with AMD platforms. Stability is important to me, because I love running my NT4.0 system heavily on my C533/BX for up to a month without rebooting.

AnandTech?s reviews of the ASUS A7V and CUSL2 give respective Stability scores of 8.0 and 9.5. Also, ASUS recommend Intel chipsets for some of their video cards, as do Hauppauge for their WinTV TV tuners. Can anyone explain why this is?

The cheaper prices of AMD processors are very attractive. If Intel drops prices near AMD's though, I would go with an Intel processor and an 815E chipset motherboard.

Have CUSL2. Easy to recommend. Board has its own website (cusl2.com). Have no experience with the other.

AMD is much cheaper (especially if you factor in overclocking); I made the switch because of it. I personally have the A7V, and while I had some problems with it, the board seems to have settled down in the later revisions (from the amount of posts I've seen here). Once I got my system running stable, it hasn't crashed at all in Win2K, and hardly ever in Win98SE... If you really want a stable AMD board, maybe look at the Abit KT7, or the MSI K7T Pro or Pro2; from what I hear, they are very stable boards (maybe moreso than the Asus A7V), but I've had no experience with them personally...
