Asus A7V won't post bios

Building first computer, everything hooked up to mother board getting green light on LED motherboard, asus v6800 graphics card. Cannot get bios to come up, monitor goes to standby during boot. Please Help. I'm an idiot.

I had a problem with my A7V when I bought it. The problem I had was there was no post at all. It turned out to be a problem with the motherboard. All the small corner computer stores have something like a 30 day replace period and then after that you have to send it to the manufacturer. Try reseating everything before you bring it in. Pull out your CPU and turn it on to see if you get beeps, and the same with ram. If you can not just see the post then reseat your video card. If your just tryiong to get it to post you dont need anything attached to your board except your video card (and of course CPU and RAM). If it is the motherboard then bring it in as soon as you can, the longer you wait the harder it is to return it. I would bring in your CPU with the board so they can test both and if they are faulty, get them to check the new board to see if it will post with your CPU.

P.S. Some places have a form that you fill out that says if they dont find anything wrong then they charge you 1/2 hour labour but if they do they will replace it.

Try this:
Take out the AGP card and put it back in. Make sure that it is FIRMLY seated.
Do the same with your memory.
If this fails, do the same with the CPU.

Also, you should try this with only the vital copmponents installed on your computer. No network cards, no modems, no sound. Just AGP, HD, CPU, RAM. This would eliminate the possibilty with on of these cards causes some sort of hardware issue. (This happened with my SMC network card on my A7V).

thanks for the help guys. I bought the wrong kind of memory at BB. Thats why i guess im an idiot.Im going to order some from crucial right now. Im sure ill be posting again in about two days. thanks again.
