i decided on going with a abit kt7a (non raid) motherboard because of the price/performance which was about $148 shipped to my location. while searching for the lowest price i ran into an asus a7v133 for about $154 shipped to my location ($139.95 before shipping) and it got me stuck on which one to get. I'm not planning on using raid but im not sure about the future...anyways heres the cheapest i found the board for.

I think the $139.95 price is for the a7v mobo. The description says it uses the KT133 chipset. The a7v133 uses the KT133a.

Amdskip and Pers,
Have you guys find a better deal anywhere? If so, please post. Otherwise, this is probably the best deal.

Based on the description provided, this is NOT the A7V133. It says the board supports up to 7 USB ports. The A7V133 only supports 4 USB ports.

JP,

It is the A7V133. Look in the lower right corner of the link he provided.

MicroBarn also has the Abit KT7A-RAID for $152 which is the lowest price at pricewatch presently for this board. S&H runs about $12.

I'm gonna take a wild stab at your question but here goes. The Raid version comes with Raid while the non-Raid version doesn't come with Raid.

He didn't say it's a hot deal. It's ok, raid was annoying for me when I installed win2k with my Abit KT7A raid. And I believe it may be a little stabler than my mobo.

By the description, the board is defineitely an A7V NOT an A7V133. He clearly says the board is based on the KT133 NOT the KT133A, that it has the 686A southbridge chip rather than the 686B, that it supports a 200 FSB rather than a 266 FSB and that it has 7 USB ports rather than 3. Also, in the picture there is no HSF on the VIA chip. NOT A HOT DEAL, just a confusing one

both are great mobos, but I feel that abit is good at performance, and asus is good at stability. But this asus a7v133 is the best choice you can have.
