Asus A7V266 KT266!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Has anyone heard any word on when the Asus A7V266 based on the Via KT266 Chipset will hit retail? Suppose to have 4 DDR Dimms, V-Link, and 4 ATA33/66/100 HDD connections. Where the 760 has 2 DDR and 2 HDD.

How will the 2 DDR and 3 SDRAM slots work exactly? Will you have to choose which you want to use or will you be able to use both at the same time. If so will the SDRAM slow the DDR down or will you be able to specify to use the DDR first until it runs out? Don't think I will be getting any SDRAM but would be nice to know if they will work together.

you will only be allowed to use one of the two, you can't use both ddr and sdram at the same time.

VIA KT266 Preview

Here's the link...you'll need to use a translator to read it. It compares the KT266 to the ALi MaGiK1 chipset and it performed poorly. I certainly hope VIA or the board manufacturers are working to improve performance. As far as I know, ASUS should be releasing their KT266 board end of March to mid April.

the board they tested with is a Magic Pro, which is the Hong Kong version of Soltek. the board is still engineer beta, and yes, the performance is really bad. even worse than the ali results, which means it's not too far from the kt133, hopefully they are working on it. moreover, soltek in generally doesn't have good performance, and now they are comparing it to iwill ka266 (iwill usually performs not bad), that's another hit right there.

Don't fret cuz the guys at Ace's hardware thinks that KT266 will perform equal or better than AMD's 760 chipset. We'll just have to wait a bit and see what VIA brings to the table.

The AMD 760 performed like crap at first too... its not final, by the time its out it should be doing better.

waiting for 9 months for a good ddr solution....
still on a p2-350 .. how sad is that? welps..
I give it to april 1st for it to hit the market
if not... I'm throwing in the towel for a DDR computer..
