Asus A7V880 not reconizing my 2600 correctly!

my new Asus A7V880 not reconizing my 2600 (fsb133) correctly.

Last night i put together my 2600+XP system using the asus a7v880 mobo. did a fresh install of windows XP. Everything when smooth as planned. until i notice that my 2600+ (2.128mhz) was only running at 1600mhz!
I was thinking that is should be no big deal.
I know that the mulipilier on the CPU is x16. So the FSB must have defaulted to 100mhz.
So i go in to the BIOS and change the FSB to 133mhz, then while still in the bios i check under System Information, it now reads my CPU correctly as a 2600+ (2.128mhz)

Now here is the problem. The PC WILL NOT boot with the FSB set to 133. During POST i receive the error msg the BIOS is curupted and needs to be recovered. Sometimes it will get past the error msg and it starts to load windowsXP, but about 5 seconds into loading winXP the machine just Reboots! Then the cycle continues........

I dont know what to do. I have tried taking out all but 1 stick of ram. Flashing to the newest bios. Same results.

Im not sure if this board is DOA, or im missing something stupid.?/

UPdate:

I took out all extra HDs, PCI devices, etc...

Only leaving in the system PCI Video Card, one stick of RAM, and the system HD.

Still its a NO go. Same errors, BIOS corruption, Overclockfailed.

Then i tried taking out all the HDs, and just hooking up my CDrom. I tried to boot from a Ultimate Boot Disc and before it could finish loading i got a BSOD!

Could and outdated Videocard cause issues like this? The reason that i ask is because im runnning an oldschool Matrox Millenium II 4mb PCi card.

Do you have different RAM you could test with? I ran into a similar issue where the system would become very unstable immediately following post with Kingston ValueRAM. Once I switched in some Crucial, it was rock-solid. Additionally, what kind of power supply are you using?

I have the Asus a7v880 as well... I am having the same issues with an AMD 3200+ and 1gb Corsair XMS Extreme pc3200... i had to set the timings as high as possible to get the board to completely post and allow me to install windows... further investigation has lead me know where.. anyone find anything else about their problems or should I go with Jrez and get the Crucial (The corsaid RAM that I chose is rated as A-Ok on Asus spec site)

I have an A7V880 at work, which BTW is a fantastic Socket A board... and I have no problems with my Barton 2500+ running at 1.83 GHz... maybe needs a BIOS flash?

I've flashed the bios to v1009 and it still is a little unstable... although I jumped the voltage on the RAM to 2.85v and it is lot more stable and it runs SiSoft non stop and no longer messes up yet Prime95 drops it in just a few minutes.
