Ok if you coiuld help me with just few thing that would be great!

First of all I am really getting tired of waiting to build my new system. Even my dad keeps say to me when the hell are you building your new system already. I keep telling him I am just waiting for the right board to come out. lol

Anyway the The new Asus A8N-E looks pretty good. But there are a few things I would like to know.

1. Is the Chip Set fan still Real Noisy? I am trying to build a QUIET SYSTEM!
2. Will SATA2 Drives work? I have 2 Maxtor DimondMax 10 drives that use NCQ!
3. I see that there is no onboard Firewire. But my PC case has a Firewire port in the front of it which I would like to use. Now I have a PCI Maxtor FireWire card and also a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS card which also has FireWire. I nned to know if and how I could hook up the Front Firewire port on my case to ether the Firewire card or the Audighy card? Can that be done?
4. And also it will not have a wofi card which is no big deal because I could always put in a pci wifi later on right?

I have been waiting the the ASUS A8n-e Premium but as many people I am getting tired of waiting. What do you think I should do? The onlt thing I am going to wait for is the new AMD Athlons with SEE3.

This is my Firewire card http://www.cwol.com/firewire/maxtor-1394-pci-adapter.htm

Right, good idea to start a new thread...

1. From looking at pictures, the fan appears to be the same noisy installation seen on the SLI Deluxe.

2. SATA2 drives will work at full spec., since the A8N-E is based on the nforce4 Ultra chipset.

3. The Maxtor supplies only external Firewire ports. This will not allow you to directly connect your Front firewire port because this is designed to take a cable from a motherboard header. Frontx supplies a solution that allows you to route a cable from the backplane of these cards back into your case and then to a module housed in a standard 3.5 inch bay at the front of your case. However, this is somewhat ugly - see this link The Audigy, I believe, does supply a header on the board as well as an external port. Whether this will hook up to your front port with an off-the-shelf cable I am not sure. The pin-out for the Audigy cable is here. Or, if that doesn't work, search the knowledge base at Creative for "firewire pin-out" and look for SB 1394 internal connector.

4. This doesn't matter. PCI Wi-FI is a waste of time anyway. Just get a wireless access point or wireless router.

This makes me so mad! The Asus A8N-E almost has everything i am looking for in a Nforce4 board except it has no firewire!! Will the ASUS A8n-e Premium look the same as the A8N-E but just add Firewire? And I really hope the chipset fan is less noisy!

The A8N-E Premium if released will probably have onboard WiFi, dual Gigabit LAN and other features to make it much more expensive. The Audigy+A8N-E sounds good to me.

By the time you add firewire you're up another $25 minimum. and your out one PCI slot.

Now I'm back looking at the Soltek nforce4 board. One less PCI slot but has firewire and a fixed serial port. 20 pin PS socket.

Hmm, no Creative Plat. and need a firewire card? $25 Minimum???

$11 Firewire card

And consider, I went to the Egg for ease to find.......I know there are $8 firewire cards out there! Yeah, you're out a PCI slot.......is that really a big deal these days? I'd take the Asus over the Slotek board any day! There's a guy on XTeme with a Venice at 280X10 on this board stable W/Prime & Super PI....

I have this board and it is working pretty good for me. You can hook up the front audio ports to the Audigy. You should be able to hook up the firewire to it too but may have to rearrange the header to match the pins on the Audigy 2 ZS.

Is this mobo Rev. E S939 ready? Any online retailers that can update the BIOS for the customers? A8n-E is not included in monarchcomputers' list of building for customers. This will be my first build, and will not overclock to the edge.

Mine came with 1003 bios which is "Venice ready" if you will, but, if looking for San Deigo, you would be able to boot, but would need to update to the 1004.1 bios.

Do you know 100% it will boot ok with the older Bios? (On a San Diego?)

Yes, there have been at least 2 guys with this board with San Deigo that said they could boot, but needed to update to bios 4.1 to have the chip identified correctly.

when did you got your mobo A8N-E which can boot on Venice. I was planning of getting this mobo since I won't overclock over the edge like the DFI. Is there somebody else out there using this mobo that they can boot on this CPU. I was gonna ask ASUS but their website requires people who already bought the mobo which I don't have yet.

I bought this mobo the first week NewEgg had them stocked.......about 2 months ago I guess approx.. I first used a 3200+ Winnie which O/C'ed very well on the board, and now have my 3500+ Vinnie which I received Thurs. from Newegg which booted right up with the 1003 bios. I also have a 3800+ San Diego ordered, but will not have it for several more days. I have read on several other forums about guys with this board and San Diego chips that had it boot fine with 1003, but was not correctly identified. They then flashed to the 1004.1 bios which solved that problem and also is X2 ready. I have since also flashed to 1004.1 and can verify that the bios is X2 ready and has all the bios settings for dual core!

Did you updated your Bios eversince you received your mobo with the winnie installed or did you updated your bios first before changing it to venice? What was the bios version when you got it? 1003 already that's why it identified the Venice? I mean it can boot up but won't identify the venice yet right?

$123 at zzf, then you have to buy a firewire card and another fan/heatsink for the northbridge if you want it to be silent. Another $25. You're up to around $150.

Whats wrong with this picture?
